RELEASE: Blk40/42 HUD Mod
-
Has anyone tried to install this mod with theaters? I tried to install it by just directing the install to the “add-on-balkans” theater folder for example and not working.
-
OK, disregard… Looks like I will have to manual install… Ok, got it now.
-
Nice job Harpoon, Thanks.
Slayer.
-
Great mod. The wide angle HUD has always been my favorite. Excellent work man.
-
Hey guys, I downloaded the first file “with pilot” and installed it. The only thing that changed for me was the addition of the pilot, but no wide screen HUD. I am running in the Korean theater.

**@ Harpoon:
Please … tell us how your installer works …?
Does it install your 3D model (merge) in the current (clients) .lod files etc … or is it a copy/paste of files present in installer that you have “tweaked” on your computer from your current BMS version?
In other words: … does it works for another version where .UCD .VCD .ct .LOD etc … has been modified …?**
-
This is a needed addon is it compatible with update 1 & 2?

As I see he used the DB of first release. He merged his work into this DB. When you runs the installer it makes a backup about your DB and replace your DB completely. This “small issue” almost ruined my MOD. IMHO this type of installer is very, very dangerous.

No it is not. (See post just above)

Agree if not used wisely. A version check would be safer…

Hope we get a version for U2 soon. By the way is the HUD to scale? It seems a little too small compared to all the pictures I’ve seen. Maybe that’s why the top of the HUD can’t be seen from the pilot’s view.
-
First of all, Molny is right. As there is no way of creating an installer that replaces a model in DB (if I’m wrong, PM me and I’ll make a proper one), it replaces the model DB, that’s why I wrote it’s only compatible with the Korea. But that was before update 1 and I haven’t touched it since then. Today, I’ll prepare a package for modders containing everything you need to place it in any DB.
I think it’s best to leave the decision to use it or not to campaign makers. As for default Korea, I’ll try to find some time to replace the installation files with new ones. -
The blk 40 HUD should really be included in the base install, (without the pilot).

+10 … and the pilot should be optional or removable with a key (maybe hard to implement!? …)
I LOVE MUCH PILOT’s LEG
-
I like the idea as well but in practice its too hard for me, not as intuitive to get around your “own” body as IRL I think. That’s why I say without the pilot, but the best would obviously be to have it as a selectable option if possible. Either way though, there is no reason at all not to have the HUD in!

For info … by using a Track IR … pilot leg is really like IRL. You must move a bite to be able to see all buttons/lights/commands etc …
But I agree … it is not possible for ppl not using TIR.

As there is no way of creating an installer that replaces a model in DB
There is a way to do so using F4Patch (which is what you see when you choose CONFIGURATION from the BMS launch screen. The problem is that the F4P_Texman.dll used to replace models in the db is confused by the new BMS folder structure. Mike Rivers wrote the .dll file. I contacted him and he said he would look into updating the .dll but that whatever code he had lying around from years ago may not still be intact. I may give him a reminder, but I am sure he is busy with other stuff.
Cheers,

Well, this one should add 4 new parent records, 4 new textures, replace 4 files and add LODs to those new parents.
I don’t think F4patch is able to do that.
Anyway, as I said, in the first page there’s a link to a small package with all the files required for a manual install.
But it’s a LE dance. -

I’m not positive about adding new parent records, but it can do all the other stuff (or could before the BMS folder change).
In fact, it can still add/change files and textures.

But it’s a LE dance. No big deal … for me, LE Editor is okay! At least, I can install the leg in any cases.

Is there an installer compatible with BMS update 2?
