Cannot hear IVC in multiplayer
-
According to my squadron, they can hear me on IVC but I cannot hear them. Most people think it is a firewall issue.
system
windows 7
Norton 360 with firewall active and BMS and IVC allowed
Windows firewall disabled
Hooked up directly to a Comcast modem and not a router so there is no port issues
My IP is a public IP.Before I got my new computer, I ran BMS and IVC with Norton on XP and had no problems. Now with Win7, I cannot hear anyone on IVC.
Does anyone believe that there are some settings in Norton that I need to change?
-
did you open up the 99XX series ports bud?
-
Be sure your intercom volume button is up. It doesn’t actually move in the pit (known bug), but it is implemented. Hopefully, BMS will fix this in their next release.

Hi Sobe, tangled up with work tonight but yesterday what we forgot is to try someone elses IVC ( we just tried Belgrif ), if shad is around have him host IVC to see if it makes a diff

make sure you set “Run as administrator” on the IVC client EXE properties.
-
I have the opposite problem, I can hear them but they can’t hear me. Gonna check a few things this week and hopefully it works.
-
You have the same frequency? not the channel, frequency.
-
Sobe its not that you can’t hear us, we’r just not talking to you
-
Huh? Did you guys hear something from Shad, I didn’t hear a thing?

UDP ports 9987, 9988 and 9989
thanks couldnt remember what the exact numbers were, just like you had to forward the 2XXX series ports you also have to open up the ports that cali mentioned above or you wont get IVC working.

I only remembered cause I wrote them down, I just opened them so hopefully my IVC will work now and they can hear me.

UPDATE
First, since I have a modem and no router, there are no ports to forward. This has been confirmed to me by Viper, the world’s leading expert on this stuff.Second, I have eliminated a firewall or Norton issue.
Third, it is either a Realtek sound chip or Win7 issue or combination of both and possibly a BMS error.
When I run in windows mode and have the volume mixer showing on my second monitor, I can watch the volume tab for IVC and BMS go up and down. However, sometimes, if the game is started and they are down, they stay down. I have played with a number of sound settings and still experimenting. I am going to see if Realtek has an update for its drivers.
The saga continues.

Opening my ports didn’t work, I now have to look into other possibilities/sources/problems. I can hear other people fine, all they hear from me is the clicking of the button.

UDP ports 9987, 9988 and 9989
Alzheimers must be setting in but my understanding is that the 9987-88-89 UDP series of ports are only needed if you are hosting a IVC server.

I have the latest Realtek sound drivers already installed so that is a dead end.
