Hello drtbkj and FoxBMS
First of all, the F-18C cockpit modifications and updates work perfectly. Great job.
Secondly, ould you fix the cockpit of the F-18A ??? The only positions that change from one cockpit to another are not broken in 4.35, but it is necessary to integrate the positions of the IFF, the engine start and the FLCS assignments, which are already integrated into the cockpit of the C …
I think it would be easy and fast for you guys to handle this.
Thanks in advance
Fresco

Hello all, i’m really sorry guys but i’m out of game for some time my gtx 980 ti went off. Now i have this hell’s rig as emergency state: gts 250 with very noisy fan :ohwell: bye bye 4.35 and Directx 11
Right now i really can’t determine when i can get back to work on F18 cockpit, i’m awaiting new gfx card but god knows when exactly, anyway here is my latest 3dbuttons.dat and switches location guide.

hi! thanks a lot!

Hi bugs,
We are facing troubles with TGP in EF-18 (not sure if happens in other versions).
Please, could you have a look?
https://bmsbugs.blu3wolf.com/view.php?id=31
We don’t remember how to solve this.

The EF-18 TGP POD is in a wrong position in the dat file. When using it, most of time is masked by the aircraft fuselage
Find the slot number of this pod in it .lod file . Edit its coordinates to place it at a spot were it can’t be masked ( I mean , not behind bombs , not inside the fuselage etc …) , save then rebuild the db of the current theater .
You need LE to do this . The fix is applyable to any plane with the same issue .
cheers,

Many thanks @lolo_salsal

Hi, Folks,
As the saying goes, I’m back. Let me catch up…
Seb and all, I don’t seem to be able to attach a 3d.dat to a pm. That’s why I took Fox’s approach and posted it here, to be copy/ pasted, like Masudanimal wrote. May I suggest you save a copy of your 1779>3dbutton.dat to a safe place like your desktop, and copy/paste either mine or Fox’s into your 3dbutton.dat If you choose mine, it’s changes are listed in my Changelog, and are all in a group at the bottom of my 3d.dat. You can just paste those, then carefully remove any other entries for those commands. Don’t worry, you won’t mess up your install if you miss some, that hotspot just may not work.
Beyond that, Fox and I will probably end up posting his to the Dev’s for U1 ( See post 94) As previously posted , his does more although the hotspots are a little different. I’ll probably switch over to his, if mine isn’t needed. In fact, I’ve changed my BIT to" SimFLTBIT -0.30000 -1.320000 -1.915000 20 311 1 " This is the realistic position in the Hornet. I’ve been trying to get ahold of my Dev contact to find out when they need it. That is my priority at this moment. Fox and I aren’t going anywhere, we’re not done with the Bug, and we’d be able to help you guys “upgrade” to Fox’s. If it came to that. Fox and I are also working around his computer issues. Again, that’s not an issue IF we have time before U1.
Fresno,
I’d be happy to look at the A. We just need to know which of the numbered ckptArt folders is the A. If you happen to know that, have you tried the copy/paste approach?
SIDENOTE: If anyone could send me a list of just what the numbered folders are, it would be quite helpful.
Mpp,
In the EA-18G , look in 4.35>data>sim>acdata>ea-18g, and toward the bottom you’ll find-“#Switch: 0 - No TGP, 1 - Internal TGP, 2 - External TGP
TGP_Type 2 #Added Falcas 14/06/2014” That’s what’s in my install. In the past I’ve experimented with making the TGP internal(switch =1), and whenever I do it has the masking problem as you describe. The permanent fix would probably be as Lolo describes, but frankly Fox is the brains of the Mafia when it comes to LOD. If yours happens to be one, make it “2” -
As the fine tuning continues, tonight I tried Fox’s version of FCS BIT and like it.
If you have used my 1799, and want to switch it over, replace the FLCSBIT entry with-SimFLTBIT -0.30000 -1.320000 -1.915000 20 311 1 -
Good Day, All,
Today’s news is that I have created a Discord server(see signature) to discuss how we can maximize the enjoyment of the “Other Fighters” in BMS.
All are welcome! -
Good Day, All,
The “news of the day” is that last night I submitted our repaired/improved 1799 to the Dev’s , as well as new cockpit diagrams. Plus, work on the Manual continues.
Another thing we hope to work on is where the some of the instrument needled don’t model properly. In 4.34, you had to turn on the console lights to get their needles to model. In 4.35, it’s reversed, you can’t see them with the console lights on, and that’s tough on the night missions -

In fact , this really depends of the “shape” of the model , and where the hardpoint are located in the said model(HP/Slot coordinates in LE) . Depending the plane you are flying , stting the TGP to 1 can work . Other plane, “2” will do the trick . On others again , correcting the TGP fov in AcData could even be sufficient .
But for some others , there is no cure but to edit the coordinates in the LOD model . And yes , it’s a permanent and last resort fix (and this method has the great advantage to keep a realistic loadout . A bit more work to do , though …)

Good Day, All,
I’ve been busy the last week or so, but work on the Manual continues. Feel free to call it Joe’s version of “in 3-4 weeks…”
Meanwhile, I calling out to invite someone with skills with LOD and such to join the Mafia. I don’t want to put everything on Fox, he has other things on his plate. I have the time to do things like fixing the Hornet’s gauge modeling. I’ll do the work. I just need someone to show me how to do it.
Meanwhile, I’m starting to educate myself on the 3DDB Builer in Tools. Right now my 3DDB doesn’t even load, and my LE just gives me a purple screen. Fox told me 3DDB where we fix the gauges(post 103). If we can’t make it perfect, day or night, I at least want to take it back to 4.34 settings. IMHO, having to run the console lights during the day is better then having to turn them off at night. Plus, hopefully fix the Growler TGP issue. -

What kind of skill is needed ? To do what kind of work ?

What kind of skill is needed ? To do what kind of work ?
Hi, Lolo,
That was quick, and thanks for the reply. The kind of skills that would really help are something that’s probably second nature to someone like you (hint, hint ).Working with things like LOD and 3DDB. The “inner workings” of BMS that don’t require code access.
You’ve been reading about the issues with the gauges and TGP masking, stuff like that is the immediate goal.
Beyond that, who knows? The “BMS FighterS Mafia’s” long term goal is not just “fix current Bug problems”, but to see just where we can take it. And , I’m hoping, to maximize BMS enjoyment of not only the Hornet but the other “non-Viper” jets as well.As previously stated, we’re focused on the Hornet right now. as we can help the most people that way. BUT, what works on the Bug will help the Hog Drivers, etc.,etc. That’s the whole purpose of this thread. It’s like the old saying. “Give someone a fish and they eat for a day. Teach some to fish and they eat for a lifetime”.
As for your “what kind of work” question, I don’t really know, as right now I don’t know how this stuff works! I can promise you , if you want to team up, that I would not just dump this on you. It would be fun for me to learn this, anyway.
Our work fixing the Bug’s hotspots is a microcosm of what I’d love to see. I kind of muddled though and managed to fix them, then Fox came along, having already done it it faster and better. I’d love to make a team and see just what we CAN do, and share that knowledge with our BMS Mates.
Anyway, if you’d like to PM, I’d be happy to discuss this with you.

Hi, Seb, and All,
Here’s a quick check in, as I’m about to go BMS flying…
Work on the Manual is proceeding, and I would still welcome input on what you would like to see in it.
The other project being worked on is the secondary gauges modeling.
