MP Anti-Virus Question - what are you using?
-
I’ve been using AVG (Free) forever and never had issues with it or other programs so recently I felt generous and figured why not pay them back a bit and get a paid subscription. Signed up, bought AVG Internet Security, installed, 1st attempt to run as a BMS host and my buddy can’t connect. Looked everywhere in AVG and it shows no blocking or connection attempts and I see no way to add BMS or any other program to it to allow pass-through. Uninstalled, all is well. So the question is twofold, if using AVG Internet Security how do you get it to allow BMS MP and/or what program are you using (that you feel good about) that isn’t a PITA with BMS MP?
Thanks!

I don’t do multiplayer, but COMODO Internet Security has an easy way of setting up firewall exceptions. It’s reliable, does what it should do, and doesn’t second-guess your choices. Also, free.

No AV at all here, just sensible browsing using the obvious plugins (privacybadger, ublock origin, noscript on vivaldi), a good (non-windows) firewall and lots of common sense (win10 is for gaming only here, and that means BMS and rfactor2, all the productivity stuff runs on Linux).
AV is way more trouble than it’s worth with its false positives, unrequested system changes / scans and whatnot.
All the best,
Uwe

Well, on a friend’s advice (he works in IT) and VG reviews I tried TotalAV and it works with 0 drama. Tested IVC and BMS 4.35.1, works without interruption… $30 a year for all my devices inc. Android w/VPN…

Definitely concur …. I’d add ScriptSafe to that great list of extensions. Would add “Hola Free VPN”, but they diverged from the “Free” thing recently, and of course changing the name to “Hola Free for 7 Hours VPN” was obviously not appealing to them.
