Can we air lift ground troops?
-
Yes you can but it’s not air lift but air mobile. You need a pick up and drop Steerpoint and the ground unit must have the air mobile flag set.
If the transport is a winged AC the pickup and drop should be a airbase. With Transport Helicopters pickup and drop can be anywhereGesendet von meinem SM-G930F mit Tapatalk
Can you recommend some document to see details?
I’ve more questions1. Do we have to create the air-lift flights ourselves
2. In case of helicopters how we do it? make pick up and drop steer points and make sure ground troops are at the pick up point?
3. Either way can we drop troops on enemy held fields? -
Even so made with 4.34 still valid for 4.35

Glad to see my Air Mobile tutorial video still being brought here from time to time.I was only able to achieve consistent results using this technique to air mobile units from one airbase to another using fixed wing aircraft. I was never able to do the same using helos to move ground units, results were never predictable meaning that the ground units were not able to move once the air mobile was completed, also never had any success doing this to capture enemy held territory. It will take more testing to see if there is a workaround for this, but I haven’t attempted it in quite a while and not at all with 4.35.

Well, I tried with your video but the C-17s arrived at the pick-up point and then aborted mission and returned home. I’ve latest BMS 4.35
So let me know when you do try. -

So let me know when you do try.An Air Mobile flight will abort their mission if threatened in any way. So if there were enemy fighter aircraft in close enough range to cause this you may want to clear the airspace before sending the Air Mobile in to the delivery point. I don’t know if this was the case but it could be a possible. I’m quite busy at the moment and don’t have the time to test any time soon, but will when I get the chance.

Its ok. Actually I’m also almost in the beginning of campaign (I think Operation Iron Fortress) and I wanted to pick up patriot battery from Kimhae. I don’t think there is any air threat that much south but I’lll try again.

In my experience only certain battalions can be moved and take orders once they have been moved by airmobile. Any airmobile battalions or an amphibious assault battalion will move and take orders, but you cannot move most battalions once they have been moved via airmobile. They will stay put and won’t budge so make sure if you do send those ones you place them exactly where you want them as defence only. They can be picked up and placed anywhere not just airbases. C-17 will land in open area and drop them. And yes Air mobile will turn and abort if threatened, especially common in early campaign when there is lots of red air to threaten them.

If you want to move something the size of a Patriot Battery, I would suggest using Mission Commander. https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?10005-Mission-Commander-beta-release It may seem like cheating, but its also a work-around to the sim’s limitations. :thumb:
