Breathing mask sound very low. How to restore higher audio level in-cockpit?
-
Flying in the real F-16, breathing inside your mask is always one of the things you hear most. Especially in various intense moments or during dogfight and high G maneuvers environment!
In older versions of BMS this sound effect was noticeable in cockpit during flight. After 4,35 release i have noticed that breathing mask sound inside cockpit is somehow “lowered” at a level that is almost not noticeable.
I have tried to restore a stronger “breathing sound” by testing different levels of “engine sound inside cockpit” from SOUND settings menu, but with no success.
Breathing sound still remains almost as if not there…A can remember from past BMS versions that this was a result of a value setting from config file but not sure now if this is the case.
The issue for me is to restore an intensive breathing mask sound in cockpit when oxygen switch is activated.Any suggestions would be appreciated.

No changes on that area since loooonnnnng time.
What is the level of your intercom knob?(Also, check that windows “Spatial sound” is not activated.)
-
One would think that the sounds would not be noticeable unless the mike was hot.
I wore my helmet and mask on several tanker flights (just for the heck of it) and the noise was hardly noticeable.

Check any F-16 cockpit video tape.

Thanks for the tips Dee Jay! Intercom knob checked as well as “Spatial sound” not activated in my windows settings…
Still no change in breathing mask sound inside cockpit. It remains almost non hearable…
How could we address this problem?
I m out of ideas… Always support that breathing mask sound is vital for sound realism inside a fighter aircraft.
I hope for a possible solution or a fix in a next update of BMS. -
Can you make a video?
-
ok will do

Well … I checked on my side, no issue to hear the breathing sounds! (?) …
Are you activating the green lever before EPU check/takeoff ? (Mask supply).
With the video, please send also a screen of your sound settings …

Well… Dee Jay …I finally GOT IT!!!
I m currently flying in ITO 435.2. After many tests and careful listening i discovered that in Data/Add-On Israel/Sounds/Common three files responsible for mask breathing sounds where not exactly the same as those in Data/ Sounds/ Common (stock Korea Theater).
These files are
-breathc.ogg
-breathf.ogg
-breaths.ogg
The one in ITO where also a bit lower volume than the same ones in Korea.
Still i was not satisfied with the result and after consulting “Raptor” (the well known Falcon BMS guru tech advisor) he suggested to alter the sound level via “Audacity” program!Well that did it.
Results for me are now satisfactory as i have simply raised the sound levels of the three files in order mask breathing to be loud enough during flight and heavy G’s environment. Files are available for download!
-breathc.ogg
-breathf.ogg
-breaths.oggDee Jay and Raptor
Thank you all for the support! -
I think Dee-Jay would have appreciated if you mentioned it wasn’t KTO…

Indeed my mistake! Sometimes its right there in front of you… Different theater is always another set up from Korea.
