Solved Help TGP cannot use radar cursor to move
-
I started playing BMS from BMS4.32. But this question has been bothering me for a long time since BMS4.34:
1.When I am in the default NAV mode, set TGP as SOI (by DMS-Down and the SOI BOX is in the TGP page ),so I can use radar cursor to move TGP.Similarly, I can also use the TMS switch to specify tracking.
2.But when I switch to A-G mode, I cannot use radar cursor to move TGP even though TGP is SOI. I have to TMS-RIGHT or TMS-UP first, and then I can control TGP. but when TMS-down, cannot use radar cursor to move TGP again.
As early as in BMS4.34, I encountered this problem.I narrowly solved this problem by choosing “disable full-screen optimization” in the compatibility mode of the Falcon BMS.exe program.
But after I unloaded and reinstalled BMS4.35 yesterday, the problem broke out again, and I could no longer solve the problem through the compatibility settings of the program.
I have no choice but to ask for help in the forum. -
@luoyi11 I agree the behavior of the TGP seems inconsistent (buggy or quirky? it may be that way in the real jet though, as far as I know) in different master-modes and submodes…
And I agree BMS has some bugs with its directx implementation, that are affected by Win10 fullscreen-optimizations…
But it would be very difficult for me to believe that those bugs somehow interfere with operation of the targeting pod and avionics… you would really have to reduce that down to incontrovertible repro steps.
Although … do you use keybd bindings for TMS up/right/down, or Hotas buttons?
In another thread earlier today, someone else just claimed that “disable fullscreen optimizations” helped solve some mouse-input problems they were having, interacting with cockpit buttons. I suppose I could believe it might also interfere with keybd input routing.
If true, it would be interesting to learn any commonalities in your setups (borderless vs fullscreen … single- or multi-monitor, etc)

@luoyi11 What loadout?

@lorikeolmin I entered the default Hamm training mission"TR_BMS_12_Harm", loadout with AGM-88+ tanks+AIM-120+AIM-9,HTS and TGP.
I try to customize the mission through the editor,however, the TGP pod still can not perform normally under A-G.
Just an hour ago, I tried to control HOTAS with keyboard keys instead of joystick buttons,but it still hasn’t improved.
Today, before uninstalling and reinstalling, it was running normally, I installed it when version 4.35 was just released.there was a problem at that time, after bug a target in RWS (SAM mode), I couldn’t move the radar cursor away from the target.I solved this problem by “disabling full-screen optimization”,with the update, it works all the way up to the UP3 version.
I saw someone encounter a similar situation on the Internet. After the TGP page is SOI, you need to click TMS-right or TMS-up before you can control it.
I even saw the opposite.TGP can be controlled, but radar can’t:https://www.reddit.com/r/falconbms/comments/qptp3h/fcr_unlinking_from_tgp_and_unable_to_move_fcr/
My joystick: T-16000M + TWCS throttle+trackIR5

@luoyi11 TGP won’t move with cursor slew if you have HARM selected in A/G, you first have to TMS UP your TGP if I remember correctly. Real or bug, I don’t know.

@airtex2019
Tonight I tried to unbind the joystick, only use the keyboard.but TGP’s performance remains the same .In A-G mode, I still need to press TMS-up or TMS-right first so that TGP can control.Before reinstallation, TGP’s performance was normal, combined with the same problems encountered by BMS4.34 in the past, while my friends around me did not encounter this problems, maybe as you said, it was related to “directx” or other computer problems.

@lorikeolmin Thanks to Lorik and airtex2019!I guess you’re right,after a long experiment, I found that it was my own one-sided judgment.
In other loadout cases, TGP can be controlled directly, so you don’t need to press TMS-up or TMS-right first, maybe that’s what real avionics is like,but at least in BMS..
As a player for many years, I am really ashamed that I am not aware of this situation.
