Launcher

If it’s not AV another thing that comes to my mind and has been reported with the same error was missing codecs.
Might try and put nomovie to your shortcut to the Launcher -
oakdesign I do not understand what you mean by “put nomovie to your shortcut”
I notice that Kestrel reported the exact same problem back on May 16th this year. No solution found and ended up uninstalling and reinstalling.
I think I will have to consider that way out.
Not sure yet what is correct procedure to do it so I am investigating, any help will be appreciated.weepop
OK found the falcon wiki on uninstalling

@weepop Just one question wiki states
(Please make a backup of your essential files before!!!)What are these besides the obvious Falcon BMS.config

weepop - Oakdesign is talking about the command line parameter “-nomovie”, you would add it to your desktop shortcut similar to this command line - “C:\Falcon BMS 4.35\Launcher.exe” -nomovie. As for uninstalling, installing, and everything in between please use these forums , you can start here - https://forum.falcon-bms.com/category/5/releases-updates. I would suggest the use of the Alternative Launcher also…

@weepop Thanks Icer.

Ok, so when you start BMS no video intro plays, correct? As for saving - If you have a special .key file, Logbook (*.lbk), phonebkn.ini, RTTClient.ini settings (if used), IVC ini (if you use it), for AL all the "Setup.v100.xxx files…
-
@weepop If the nomovie shortcut doesn’t work. Just to make sure. Which windows version? if windows 10 apart from your personal Antivirus suite if activated windows defender might interfere as well
Sorry my Win language is german but you might get it by position of the elements

Thanks Icer but I cannot start BMS so obviously no video plays, I just get the message in first post.
But thanks for reminder to save RTT . ini (even though it was not working at last attempt.
Not concerned over log book as I do not play campaigns
and not yet got AL Still finding out about it!!!

OK managed to get alternative launcher ( git hub scares me , so unfriendly I don`t know what I am doing most of the time)
Now can you tell me where to find instructions for alternative launcher.
It cured my problem by allowing me to start BMS but the first thing I noticed was my pitch was reversed ie climb was dive. Hence my request for instructions. !!!

weepopIt’s quite easy to use, under AxisAssign Tab just click on the “assign” button next to the Axis you want to work with, “Pitch” in your case, move the stick’s Y axis a bit, to see travel, then if it’s reversed simply click “Invert” box… Save, and done! Final check back in the Main AxisAssign window to be sure all axis are moving correctly, go fly!

@icer OK that worked but now how do I pick my own .key file???
I can see that it is available in setup but if I select it and apply it only works for that session. Next time I launch it as reverted to BMS Full.
I can see the filter tab but it does not let me pick my own "weepop 4.35 Full.key.
I followed the instruction to extract AL files to Bin86 so what have I missed ??? -
@weepop AL works oinly with BMS - Full.key file. If you have an existing keyfile and want AL to use it only way at the moment is to make a backup of the Full -BMS .key and rename your personal key file to BMS - Full.key
Just to recap if you are using AL don’t make any changes to key or axis in the BMS setup UI. Technically you could but anything you change is gone the next time you start BMS with AL -
@oakdesign Thanks oakdesign
Reinstall is looking much more likely .

@weepop Make sure that the "Launchers> button in the Alternative Launcher main screen is not checked. If checked, it will launch without your overrides enabled.
-
Thanks mj3437 you made me realise how I can keep my own key file.
Launch with it ticked and then it does not overwrite my weepop 4.35 Full.key with the BMS.Full file.
This means I am only using AL to overcome my original problem as stated in first post.
Now I only have to sort out why RTT not working…any ideas ???
-
@weepop please specify/elaborate RTT not working? Bit more information on the issue you are facing would be helpfull to support

@oakdesign said in Launcher:

But can’t you just take a shot at the problem Oak?
-
OK the problem at first was RTT MDF gauges did not appear in correct positions on my Helios touch screen.
Sorted that , I had somehow lost my settings in RTT client .ini
Took a while using trial and error , surely there must be an easier way to edit positions of gauges.
Trouble is they are now in right positions but remain blank when I launch BMS.Ideas ???
-
@weepop with the latest Helios RTT is fully integrated. You have YET viewports that you can drag around and Helios would automatically write the position to the ini file
Second if the remain blank have you checked that RTT is enabled in your Falcon BMS.cfg file -
Thanks oakdesign that was the problem, it was not enabled in the cfg file.
Don`t know why as it used to work.
Do updates alter the cfg file ?
Also I see Helios as had RTT since release 1.6.3604 .
I found the movable images but could not quite work out how to use them .
