Solved KTO TS Campaign : J20 appears as F22 (^22) IN RWR. Bug or feature ?
-
Hi all,
All is in the title.
Is it because the RWR in the F-16CM-40 has not updated database for this new threat ?
Best,
Eric. -

After reviewing some documentation, I think that for this RWR (AN/ALR-56M) even if it’s a "foreign"radar, the symbol stay ^22 as for the JSF or Raptor.
Certainly that the newer RWRs on the new blocs are more informative for the pilot.

Well 20 is already taken so you’ll just have to know your threats.

Consider it as a feature.
All those new gen radar shares quite the same Fre/Fr/Prf ranges … so they can hardly be discriminated.
So (to make it simple) a F22, J20, Rafale, … etc … radar will probably be sensed by RWR as the same “family”. It would be too long to explain what would be the results on displays … but long story short, they will all be assimilated to one of them.RWR don’t display the reality … only a interpretation of what library allows to believes what the reality is from a radio reciter perspective.

EDIT;
Nothing real here (in terms of param and values), just a kind of illustration of what a library is and were “ambiguities” comes from …Where param intersects, RWR can’t discriminate …

@Dee-Jay Whoa ! Thanks very much !
Very informative.
Even if the diagram is not the reality, it’s a valuable tool to understand how the things work.
We can have a better view of the real situation pilots must face and the need to absolutely have the best intel to anticipate correctly the threats they will meet.
i will read the doc you share me.
Again, thank you for this explanation.
