IFlyBMS

Is there any way to have the MFD’s on the Ipad? That would be really amazing.
There are a couple of options out there, but they haven’t been commented on in some time. Check the Input Devices -> Touchscreens forum.
Cheers!

I ended up getting an iPad for college. So I need to figure out which app for BMS is the best…

Greetings Ice,
I was looking at your video and noticed that you have your MFD’s mounted to your monitor. I’d like to do that with my Thrusmaster MFD’s and have the MFD display inside them. How did you mount those to your monitor?
Thanks,
-Matt

Ice, thanks for this great tool. You’ve done a magnificent job. Now waiting for the next version, with horizontal display, maybe ?

Wow, I’m surprised my thread is still up. Thanks for trying it out guys.
Matt, the MFDs are taped to the monitor bezel using double-sided tape. Judy, my apologies but I do not see myself working on this anymore. The simple reason is because I managed to score a 10" Lilliput touch screen which I am using now for the exact same purpose as iFlyBMS. I may do a horizontal setup if I find the time in the future, but that’s a big “if.” The only reason it is an “if” is because one of the guys I’m flying with has requested this as well, so I’ll see what I can do.

Could you make this work on an iphone also?

No sweat man, your tool is already just great as it is/ But thanks anyway for considering the horizontal version. Anywhere we can have a look at your setup with the 10" touch screen ?

JudyIt’s just like the setup on the video I did, but this time there is a 10" monitor below the instruments monitor, so it’s right between my legs. It has a sort of stand though so I can pull it out and forward a bit, so it’s very easy and accessible, just like the F-16’s ICP although it’s not in-your-face and is situated lower…

Er, see post above yours dude. Shorter version: Me = no, You = yes. Try it!

If that’s OK with you, I might try to create an horizontal version. I don’t have a clue how, but I’ll start researching.

will try it out on an Iphone…

I can’t have my Ipad to connect to the server anymore
I woulod really NEED and appreciate some networking help here.
I explained everything here
Please, if you have any networking knowledge, please help me out !!!
edit:
this is my problem basically :
and this is how my network looks like :
HEEEEEEEEEEELP

Hello Shung! Sorry to hear about your problems but it sounds like it’s more of a network issue than a iFlyBMS issue. When you try to connect to the TouchControl server from the iPad, does it connect? Have you updated the TouchControl PC-side or iPad-side programs? If you haven’t then keep it that way. I’ve not used the newer version so Dave may have changed something we don’t know about. I see you’ve posted on the TouchControl website, give it a couple of days and Dave might be able to help you out. Might be a good idea to drop him a direct email too as he seems to reply to that quicker.
I’m assuming your iPad can still connect to your wifi network and can surf the net and such? If so, then we know the iPad-to-wifi network is fine. You might want to take a look at the ZeroConfig network setup again, or maybe re-install the PC-side of TouchControl.
Good luck!

When you try to connect to the TouchControl server from the iPad, does it connect?
nope
I am sure it is a networking issue yes… The only problem is that i havent changed a lot since it was still working… I only changed my IP ranges for my modem router (from 192.168.1.9 to 192.168.0.9) and my wifi router IP (from 192.168.10.1 to 192.168.0.1)
But my networking knowledge is really limited, and I am totally unable to fix it
Yes, i can still surf the internet etc from my ipad… But it only works when the WAN IP address I set in the WIFI router is my neighbours (192.168.0.254, from his own modem router) … doesnt work when its my own modem router IP (192.168.0.9)… On the other hand when i set this IP in my netword card TCP protocol, for internet, through the RJ45 network (192.168.0.9) internet is working…
I guess, in some ways, my wifi router is unable to get informations through my own modem router (both the touchcontrol thing, or my own internet connection). its just that my networking knowledge is too poor to find a solution myself.
I have updated both my touchcontrol server and the app… I tried.
I might have to try reinstalling everything. Im still at the army this week, but when i come back, if I havent had any answer on the forum, ill try shooting the guy an email.
I really need help
-
btw, what is this zero config thing you are talking about ?
im desperate… flying without IflyBMS is just NOT POSSIBLE anymore
-
Ok… I have no freaking idea what did it, but I rebooted the modem router, and also pluged a second RJ45 between it and the wifi router, and now it works again…!!!
too bad I have to go back at my airbase tonight (Payerne) or I would have loved to make a BMS flight tonight…
I lost my whole day on this…
oh well, it works again !
Thx again Ice, this is an awesome add on !
-
No worries, I am glad you got it working again. To be honest, it’s a pity I’m having to put this project to the side, though I’m glad to have helped some people enjoy their iPads with BMS.
Anyway, I guess one culprit is having TWO sources for internet connection.
-
Hey… I keep struggling with I flyBMS
I can now connect and use it for a minute or so, but then i get command time outs, and then it cant reconnect to the server.
the only solution seems to launch both server and app again, but then it happends all over again.
I tried updating to the last version, wich is 5.7…. seems like in this version, the switches of Ifly BMS arent moving either.
Any chance that you could look into it ICE ?
its awfull not having IflyBMS anymore…
-
Hello Shung,
A quick connect shows thing still working. I got version 5.6.0 on my PC but the newest version is installed on the iPad. I see Dave has updated Touch Control 3x since then… I’ve uploaded TC version 5.6 here, download it, uninstall and delete everything you have locally, then install v5.6 again.
Good luk!
EDIT: Noticed the switches are not moving as well for my iPad. Clicking the FlightBag icon doesn’t bring me back to the main screen as well. Might need to ask Dave about this. The switches should still be working as before though, as I’ve seen the Master Arm, Laser Arm, CAT switch and Slap switch still functioning. Same for the ICP buttons.
-
thanks for your time Ice !
just one thing I am not sure about…
I obviously cant downgrade the version on the Ipad, and I am not sure how it would work with a 5.6 on the PC and a IPad app in 5.7…
I confirm. everything is still working though. the switches just dont move visually anymore.
-
Yeah, no idea about downgrading the iPad version, but I lost the old version when the new iOS came out, so I got stuck with the new version now. However, if the switches aren’t animating on 5.7 and the same issue arises with 5.6.0, then something is definitely wrong somewhere. However, I’ve not touched this program in months so I’ve sent Dave an email asking why this is happening. If he can give me a straight answer, I’ll see what needs to be done to fix it. Having a working iPad switch but having to visually confirm in the cockpit is a pain.
Are you still having that connection problems with 5.6.0?
