Online Squadron Collection v2 is out

AISPY needs to be run on the same computer with Falcon in 2D mode.
So either make the main server stay in 2D and run a single AISPY there (set it to Both),
or every AWACS player should run AISPY (set it to RED or BLUE according to player’s side) and run Falcon connected to the main Falcon server staying in 2D.Thank for your quick replay I will go to try as fast as we can. :), but when you write falcon in 2D mode you mean the main Falcon Server or Falcon Client?? I don’t understand very well, because if we want to have 2 human AWACS (one red and one blue) we need to run 2 F4AWACS and not set to both, but everyone in its own side. So the question are:
- Must every human AWACS run its own falcon and if yes have this client connect to the main server I suppose, don’t I?
- Must the Main Falcon Server to be in 2D or 3D mode (this is not clear for me, because in campaign we have noticed that is better that the main server have to be in 3D and not in 2D)?
Other question, sorry if I am too boring.
We have noticed that the number below each pilot indicate the altitude and ground speed as explain in the manual, but the speed usually we use in not Ground Speed, but CAS: is there any way to change it?
And moreover, the refresh time set to the SQSERVER is 10 second (10,000 ms) if we are 20 human player+30 AI fly. We calculate the refresh time, as written in the manual, that we have to multiply “Number of Player” * “Number of AI” =“byte per cycle”. In the example it means 600 byte per cycle and what is the numer of millisecond we have to set in the SQSERVER?Sorry again for all these questions, but we have work around this program for all this afternoon and we would like to find a solution
Thanks

i will try to answer
1. no if you want to have human awacs you just run F4Awacs and connect to SQServer. the one who hosts the game must remain in 2D if you want to get AI position AIspy can’t read AI position if you are on 3D world
2. if you want to see AI possition the server stays in 2D (as mentioned above AISpy can’t read AI possition if you go to 3D)
this page might help you to understand the concept behind connectivityhttp://docs.sakgiok.gr/manuals:osc:usage:pva
speed IIRC can’t be changed
for the refresh time i can’t help you -
Imagine all programs together is a cloud of information and everyone connected is either providing pieces of information to the cloud or getting pieces out of it. These pieces can be tagged as BLUE or RED (or BOTH).
Player’s position are provided by VALIDATOR, that’s clear. You need to provide the AI data for the cloud as well. The way to do this is to run AISPY on a computer that runs BMS in 2D mode (that is, it stays on the briefing map). There are two ways to do that.
The first way is to have the main server stay on 2D and run AISPY on the main server. To make sure both RED and BLUE F4AWACS get AI data, you should set this AISPY session to BOTH.
If as you say, you need to have the BMS server in 3D, you can have BMS running on another computer (of course BMS on this computer must be connected to the BMS server) and run AISPY on this computer as well. It’s obvious, since everybody else is flying, you should do this to a computer that is not running BMS in 3D, so the computers running F4AWACS is the solution. So either one GCI guy runs BMS and AISPY this way setting it to BOTH, or both GCI guys runs BMS and AISPY this way setting it to RED and BLUE respectively. All it matters is the AI information make it to the SQSERVER.
The Ground speed is not derived from VALIDATOR but calculated as it is the case with real RADAR sites. No RADAR site will give you the CAS or TAS, only the ground speed. That’s why I made it that way.
You don’t need to change the interval according to the players. The calculation I posted was just to estimate the network traffic and to show that is very small. The interval should stay at 10000 ms (as real RADARs have) no matter how many players are connected, or you can change it if you want to get info refreshed faster (mind that if it is too small, AISPY might have problems).

Thank you guys…I have to study and try.
Verry, very kind all of you. -
Well, we’ve done some tests, but in 3D there are no way to see anything. When the main server is set to 3D everything in F4AWACS disappears.
We have realize that we can use this program as here exposed:- Main server with BMS running in 2D mode with AIPSY+SQSERVER
- The human awacs has open IVC Client + F4AWACS
- every pilot (Clients) run ONLY Validator
In this configuration we can play and see every enemy and friendly fly.
PS.
Sorry, but what you have describe here is not very clear……you need to have the BMS server in 3D, you can have BMS running on another computer (of course BMS on this computer must be connected to the BMS server) and run AISPY on this computer as well.
We run bms server as server of the game and this is the MAIN one. what do you mean with “another computer”? Do you think that we have to start the campaign with another computer instead of the server? That’s not very practicable (bandwidth for data here in Italy is too small).
I don’t understand what really you mean…may be is my english very ugly, but please let me know where I am wrong.
Another questions:
-can this program be usefull to see also ground threats as we could see in AF Awacs?
-why if I set “new Icon data” the button of area disappears? -
it is true that when server enters 3d it is more stable. you said

1)server goes to 3d world for stability and runs just the SQSERVER(no aispy here)
2) The human awacs has open IVC Client + F4AWACS[and opens bms in 2d AND AISPY connected to main server and SQSERVER]
3) every pilot (Clients) run ONLY Validator -
Thank you Condor, that appears to be much more affordable….we will try it!
-
Thank you monster for your gorgeous program.
I am testing this util with my squadron and have a problem with F4AWACS.
When I connect as AWACS and most of AI displayed near Bulls eye but player showed correctly.
I tested to move bulls eye to different position and AI still followed it.And some of AI are showed above the map.
Any suggestion please?

Thanks duria,
can you please edit the file F4AWACS.ini and set the value LOG=0 to LOG=1. A file called F4AWACSLog.txt will be created when you run the program. Run it a little while showing the problem you have and send me this log file to investigate further.
My email is sakgiok (at) hotmail (dot) com

Well,
we have tested as you suggest and result was:- Main Server BMS in 2D + SQSERVER + AISPY (set to BOTH)
- F4AWACS (set to BOTH) + BMS in 2D + IVC Client
- every pilot with validator
The program was good for communications, but in the map we encounter some trouble.
We have noticed something strange behaviour, in many cases blue change to red and red change to blu. Moreover we noticed that in the windows “Clients” appears numbers of flight that were not set during the game, as many times Chalis_1 (9 times). This is very strange!
Here I post some pics for your knowledge:This Pic show red become blu and blu becom red:
The same pic, but looking throug 2D map of bms the same plane of the above pic are not blu, but red:
At this time we need, if you can, your opinion. May be we have made something wrong, but we don’t know where

I think, it’s because Asian language windows system and 2 byte font … hmmmm -
@tdr:
- Main Server BMS in 2D + SQSERVER + AISPY (set to BOTH)
- F4AWACS (set to BOTH) + BMS in 2D + IVC Client
- every pilot with validator
on the awacs client do you run aispy??
it might double the ai contactsalso try
- main server in 3D + sq server ONLY
2)F4AWACS + AISPY + bms 2D
in this way you have only one instance of BMS in 2d(with AI data availiable) and maybe you will solve the problem(many chalis_1 for example)
that is all i can think of…note that i am only a user… of OSC monster is the one who coded the software and knows how exactly it works
@piaf
there is built in support for programs that come to difrent languages… give it a try… -
This post is deleted! -
Thank you Condor, we will try again…
-
@tdr
You only need one AISPY + BMS on 2D per channel (or one set to BOTH). If you have more AISPY+BMS(2d) running and set on the same channel (or both) you’ll get double info. Even from a single AISPY you can get double contacts if that’s what is in Falcon’s memory, I can’t help it.About changing ID, I said before, AI ID is just for reference. The program will send whatever it is reading from the memory. The ID process is done by examining the callsign of the contact and it’s not accurate (might be changing from time to time).
@Piaf
that’s a good guess, I have the log files (thanks duria) and I’ll try to figure it out by examining them. It’s not a display problem though since (from a first look) the data that SQSERVER is sending are a little odd. -
Thank you Monster for your patience, we have done the try as explain before you replay, but no way. We’ve got the same results and the configuration was as exposed by Condor.
But let me explain what I was understand. At this point I am not be able to understand the logic of the program.
You say that we need only one AISPY, set to both in the main server where is running BMS in 2D.
This i s the first step.
But what colour is necessary to avoid the double data on the map if every faction (red and blue) open F4AWACS (BOTH, RED, BLUE)??? My opinion is that every one has to open his colour at which it hold, is it right?Thank you again and if you could verify our setting you can write me at “uateruain (στο) yahoo (dot) it” (the underline have to be removed)
Thank
PS.
sorry another question: what colour we have to set when we connect with validator?? -
Monster…
Finally, my squadron has found the reason why AIs were showed around bulls eye. That was format problem.
As Piaf said my squad use Korean version Win7 and format was Korean in Region and Language section and when this format changed to English……yeah~~~
It works correctly.
Thank you monster.

@duria
Great news, glad it was only that.@tdr
Ok let me suggest a setup that might workServer computer:
BMS Server that goes in 3D as you usual do.
SQSERVER.Pilot Computers:
VALIDATOR connecting as BLUE or RED according the side they fly in BMS.BLUE GCI:
AISPY connected to SQSERVER as BLUE.
BMS (preferably in window mode) connected to BMS server to the BLUE side of the running TE and staying on the map (2D). Don’t check IVC when connected.
IVC Client with “Force Local Control” checked.
F4AWACS connected as BLUE.RED GCI:
AISPY connected to SQSERVER as RED.
BMS (preferably in window mode) connected to BMS server to the RED side of the running TE and staying on the map (2D). Don’t check IVC when connected.
IVC Client with “Force Local Control” checked.
F4AWACS connected as RED.AISPY only needs to be run once for each side (RED or BLUE). So if you need another F4AWACS for e.g. BLUE, just run only F4AWACS connected to BLUE and IVC (so no BMS and AISPY for the extra F4AWACS).
IVC is needed of course if you use IVC for comms, otherwise you don’t need to run it.

Thank you Monster, we will make a rapid test.

Monster,
I’m having similar issues in that when I’m testing F4AWACS on my LAN, I can only see client aircraft with no AI aircraft displayed. I’m using 2.0.2, default ports, all of which have been checked to match.
Here is my setup:
@Server:
BMS (Server, 3D)
SQServer
Validator (connect to 127.0.0.1)@Client:
BMS (Client, Windowed, 2D, active flight selected in ATO window)
AISpy (connect to Server, All)
F4AWACS (connect to Server, All)In this configuration, only my player ship displays in F4AWACS; the AI aircraft on the 2D screen do not display at all. When allowing the Test Plot with AISpy, the plot displays properly in F4AWACS (both as friendly and bogie as checked). “C” light is green in F4AWACS, and both Connection and BMS lights are green in AISpy.
I have also tried this configuration with validator installed on the client, even though this shouldn’t be necessary. Same result.
Regards,
