Solved BMS don't save key file
-
Hi, we have noticed that it is possible to load the personal key file of the controller settings, but it does not save it in the settings and therefore it has to be reloaded every time. Is there a chance for Falcon to remember the choice?
Thanks

@tdr You can use your existing keyfiles by saving them as “BMS - Full” and placing them in the config folder.
Then delete the “BMS - Auto” keyfile and restart the launcher.
The “BMS - Auto” keyfile will be regenerated along with your already-assigned DX buttons as they are stored in the XML files in the config folder.
-
@tdr the New Launcher overwrites all those settings.
either bypass the launcher and start BMS directly, or click the checkbox in the launcher to not override all your settings

@airtex2019 Thank you, as I had this trouble too! Is there any benefit that the launcher creates such an auto.key file?

Better setup keys with Launcher…any way next version of the Launcher will have an option to load keymap

Well the New Launcher is much nicer and easier to use, for modifying your keybd and hotas button bindings … in all cases except importing existing .key/cfg files.

@airtex2019 Hm I made new keyfile for 4.37 however from within Falcon so maybe next time I better do it in the launcher then

Hey Gents!
I still don´t get it the new concept of the key files and therefore I don´t get it work.
I could load any safed .key file and edit it under BMS setup. Save it, rename it “BMS - Full” and delete
the BMS -Auto. To get really sure I cut all other .key files also. When I lauch BMS again, bam no previouse settings available and lost again. Same with all of the axis of my hardware, I can hit the save button a thousand time never safed any axis and keystrokes. What do I wrong? -
@The_Scarecrow - It sounds like you understood how the key files worked before 4.37 so if you want to still do that you can by checking “Launch without any setup override” box on the launcher. This bypasses the new mapping process and lets you use whatever key file you set for your pilot.
going forward, it sounds like this new mapper will be the way to do things but there are still some things causing confusion at the moment and it sounds liek the dev team is working on them, For now, if you understand the old way, simply check the box and do like you did before.

what Save button? within BMS? you can’t use that … the new Launcher will override and overwrite anything you do there.
if your intention is to use an old key file, you will have to bypass the new Launcher… either use the old Launcher.exe or always be sure to select the “launch without overrides” checkbox in the new Launcher
also, you’ll want to remove the bottom lines from ‘falcon bms.cfg’ that the new Launcher appended – all the ones tagged
// SETUP OVERRIDE
I recommend adding a section in your ‘falcon bms user.cfg’ to explicitly specify whatever settings your key file depends upon. I have an entire section for “input stuff” like this…
// // Input stuff set g_nButtonsPerDevice 128 set g_nHotasPinkyShiftMagnitude 10000 set g_nNumOfPOVs 1 set g_nPOV1DeviceID 1 set g_nPOV1ID 0 set g_nPOV2DeviceID 2 set g_nPOV2ID 0 set g_nHotasShiftQuickPressTimeLimit 250 //milliseconds - timeout for disambiguating pinky-switch (tap) vs DX-shift (hold) set g_nKnobAccelerationDelta 250 //milliseconds - delay between subsequent keypresses, to rotate knobs 5 instead of 1 set g_nAxisExp_AXIS_CURSOR_X 10 set g_nAxisSat_AXIS_CURSOR_X 5 set g_nAxisExp_AXIS_CURSOR_Y 10 set g_nAxisSat_AXIS_CURSOR_Y 5
last but not least, make regular backups of everything in your User/Config folder, in case you accidentally do something which overwrites all your preferred settings
