Solved 4.37.2 crashes after the U2 update
-
Launcher works perfectly fine but when I click “launch”, a black falcon BMS intro appears and after a while, it disappears and nothing happens. I tried running it as administrator, changed the config, selecting debug on the alternative launcher but the problem stays still the same. Can someone help me ASAP? My friends are waiting for me to fly.

The only thing, ASAP, that I can recommend is to change the name of the folder where you have the simulator installed and install the sim from scratch install 4.37 u1 and u2 after hit win+r write %temp% and delete all temps there. run rl sim and go to instan action and see if you cum. after that configure the graphics and controls

Before commencing full reinstall, maybe it’s worth to check if there’s any audio device active and have speakers/headphones plugged in.
Lack of those will cause BMS crash on start. -
@FL12557 please post dmp and when running with debug option also the xlog
-
@FL12557 the most common cause is lack of audio device path. make sure audio is plugged in and working, before starting BMS.
if you inspect the xlog files (in ‘User/Logs’ subfolder) created when you ran with debug flag, it will probably mention something about failing to initialize audio

Yes, for u2 I added some output if sound initialisation fails.

@Xeno tried it and still the same

@Tumbler31 in the xlog, it says:
ERROR! D:\Dev\BMS\Code\Ui\Src\Winmain.cpp, line 2204:
Failed to open D:\Falcon BMS 4.37\User\Config\ziplist.fil
what do I have to do now? -

Seems that file is missing, so try reinstalling?

@Tumbler31 I reinstalled and finally fixed it! It looks like the problem is caused by Janhas skins. I forgot to remove them before the update. Thanks for the help!

I can concur on the sound issue causing a CTD in 4.37.2
I always used Win7 for BMS but recently bought Viper TQS and forced to move to Win10.
I had Win10 installed some time ago as dual boot but never actually used it. After installing 4.37 I could reach the Alt Launcher Screen but after Launcher button I would see brief BMS Splash Logo Screen it would then CTD.
On investigation, Device Manager showed my old SB X-Fi soundcard was installed properly but I was seeing a sound error in my Task Bar/Tray. In Win10 Audio Settings I switched the sound output to SPDIF and BMS would then launch the game just fine (without speakers or headphones connected even).
I guess that it’s time for a soundcard upgrade!
