Solved Keyboard stops working mid flight
-
@101-Grizzly
Is the keyboard plugged into the computer or powered hub? If plugged into a powered hub, maybe the hub is going into power save mode.GC
-
@greatcouloir No, not through a hub.
Thanks fo trying!

Does it happen at random or have you Alt+Tabbed? Try Alt+ENTER when it happens just in case.

@airtex2019
You might have something there. There is one software that since I have installed it my Windows 11 as crashed twice in less than a week. And that is a first. This Windows machine never ever crashed since its first install. That software even though it is a piece of crap it is a necessary evil. It is the Saitek Programming software. I hate to say it because I love their products. But this software needs a serious update.
But in the meantime I must try to find a workaround. -
@Ferde
Like I said, when I loose the keyboard, I loose every way of getting out of the 3d world short of shutting down the computer by cutting power.Alt+tab or Ctrl+Alt_Del or even the Windows key are useless. I litteraly have to crash the jet. Then the Escape window comes up and the keyboard works again.
Explain that one. -
About your session, if you go into Setup-Graphics. What is the Window dropdown set to: Borderless, Windowed or Fullscreen ?
-
@jayb
It was actually set to Borderless by default. Never even noticed it.
I guess in windowed mode it would be easier to get out. But is there another reason you are asking? -
@101-Grizzly I thought it strange that Alt+Tab did not work. Even if some background window took over, Alt+Tab should still work. So wanted to hear if you were on the recommended borderless mode, not Full Screen. So that part should be fine.
You are not running anything like AutoHotkey or AutoIt by any chance, which may remap keys ? Other than that, would you be able to test without the Saitek software ? If not, wasn’t there something about Saitek software and Win11 (IIRC) and if so, someone might have posted a fix.

@jayb
I figured it out. It was a keybinding conflict. in the command “Cursor Stop” the keys “Shft+Y” are used.
When used as a simple keypress in the programming software it somehow stands on the “Y” forever. So I just changed it to an advanced command so the "Y"would release normally.
And miraculously, I just had a full flight without a hitch.
Thanks for your help! It made order out of Chaos in my brain. -
@101-Grizzly Great! Not that I did anything, but it would have surprised me if it had been an until now unknown bug in BMS. Crazy how that could kill your keyboard but I suppose it corresponds to holding down Y indefinitely

OOPS!!
Spoke to soon. It is something that happens everytime.
I like long flights so I always take a Deep Strike or a Barcap so I have time to play with the radar equipment to familiarize myself. Everytime inside 20 minutes of flight without having done anything particular, keyboard quits working and there is no way for me to exit nothing works. I litteraly have to crash the plane to exit. Once I do the Exit screen appears and everything is back to normal.Thought I had fixed it but I guess there is always more…
