Unable to install
-
@Ragnar-1 Click on the “Extras” on the top of the window. Then, download Falcon 4 and install it.
-
I have installed it AND run it but to no avail?
-
This is the file I’m trying to install from…
Falcon BMS_4.37_Full_Setup.exe
-
@Ragnar-1 can you confirm that you have Falcon 4 installed and not some other version out of that collection?
You should be able to find the folder called “Falcon 4.0” on your computer somewhere if it is properly installed, like this:
-
-
@Ragnar-1 Yep - that’s Falcon alright, and not Falcon 4.0…
You need to install Falcon 4.0 such that you will find in the end an executable shown in my image above with the name “falcon4.exe” from 11/29/1999 … this program is what BMS is looking for when it does it’s check.
@johku replied above with the SOP for using the GOG Galaxy - you click on Extras at the top, find and download the Falcon 4 variant and install it.
-
Many thanks for all the helpful information.
I found the Falcon 4.0 install exe eventually and installed it, the the Falcon BMS installer worked. I have to say I have never come across such a convoluted method of installation and it seems it doesn’t end there! I am now trying to install the updates and I have this message (see pic)
I do not have the downloader on my PC nor can I find it on the BMS website? -

@SemlerPDX
Hmmm. I’m now close to giving up and returning to DCS…
I have run the sim, it loads to the initial screen but when I click on SETUP it exits to windows, no error message, just exits. -

Then perhaps I do not know what I am looking for? I have the updates but I need the updater updated! In the download section of the website I obviously see the updates but not the UPDATER? What am I missing?
-
Absolutely not a threat, simply resignation that perhaps BMS is not for me. The initial reason I looked into it is because many people reported that the latest version was indeed on a par with DCS so I was curious but so far no luck. As I said, it now exits to windows when I try and enter SETUP so I cannot configure controllers / resolution etc.
I am totally open to suggestions. -
@Ragnar-1 If you have the updates. Run them and install them.
-
@Ragnar-1 setup in launcher not setup. Did you read the user manual? If its CTD when clicking on setup you probably borked your install. It should not do that. Reinstall following user manual instructions
-
@Icarus
How is it possible to bork the install? -
And yes, I have read and followed the installation instructions…
-
I have now uninstalled the sim and I am re-installing it, I appreciate your help, I will post what happens next!
