Mitsubishi F-1/T-2

@Radium beautiful bird, really like the cannon
-
Hello,
First colors are coming.
I started a couple of animations too, but there is a couple of them that are pretty tricky (main undercarriage).
For now, nothing final, it’s only a diffuse map !
Stay tuned !

Hello,
time to me to leave for holidays ! As usual I move to Switzerland, I really like this country, and I will enjoy with my family there. I hope to have some time to go to Payerne area, to make some spotting there, to see some F/A-18 and Tigers !
About Mitsubishi F-1, I worked a lot on the model, and here is what’s new :
I spent a lot of time to get an high resolution pilot, and also an highly detailed Vulcan gun. Little surprise with the pilot : all helmets are different, with different names and arts on them.
The rest of the aircraft is not really textured : it’s just a diffuse basic color set, that will be enhanced with structure, weathering and everything.
Afterburner is also here, derivated from the one I did for Lavi (with an enhanced progressive effect, like the real Ishikawajima-Harima TF40-IHI-801A.
Also, animating the landing gear was a big challenge.
I am also happy to announce that Kouzi will work again with me and provide you a nice acdata set. We will then work from Topolo’s Jaguar flight model, thank you for his offer to use it as a starting base !
I will be back on 8th of August, so, do not expect anything before !

Hello everyone,
after my vacations, I am really happy to present you my latest update about Mitsubishi F-1.
-
Kouzi did a lot of work on flight model, we are refining it more and more.
-
Texturing is getting forward, but we are still so far from something final.
-
I found some issues on the model file that I had to correct. Also, I will have to make a custom dragchute.
Stay tuned !

@Radium looks very nice. cant wait to fly it if its available later on. How do you go about doing the exhaust for the engines.
-
@okayasugf Hello, what do you mean for exhaust ? You refer to afterburner ?
-
@Radium yes, im pretty close to completing the details of my fa-18 model, will start animating the control surfaces. But have no idea how to make afterburner
-
@okayasugf Hello,
- By my side, afterburners are years of research Bascially, my solution is based on double faced surfaces, all rotated around a common axis :
- After that, I give it ptype20 characteristics (self illumination : Vertex paint+uvw+Unwrap uvw), on the stack. Here is mine :
- Materials shall be set as follows :
-
Once it’s made, you should affect one DOF (DOF40 for example), to create a rotation of the surfaces, around y axis.
-
After that, link this DOF to Switch 0, with the parameters as follows :
You then just created a working afterburner.
- You can improve it, with some other DOFs dependancies, to create some progressive afterburner. Here is one example that I use :
- I personally to my unwrapping before animation, to cast texture baking easily. But it’s up to you !
Radium
-
@Radium okay understood, ill do my uv mapping first then move on to animation.
-
@Radium Really love this modeling work, Radium. You have a refined skill.
-
Hello,
some news !
I made some first tests with some basic weapon systems. I will have to make some adjustements to avoid bad connections.
I also refined a bit my afterburners, to make it look more realistic.
The good thing is that JASDF uses BDU-50, that was made for T-BE5A.
So, I reused it there.
Structure lines are still not there… But it starts to look more and more like a Mitsubishi F-1 !
Do not expect anything from me before monday, as I will go to see my grandparents this weekend.
Best regards,
Radium

Hello everyone,
today, I will not post ingame picture, because I feel lazy to reexport all textures, after one full day of work on Mitsubishi F-1.
Here you go :
It’s indeed a 3D viewport screenshot, out of 3dsmax.
Here is what’s new :
- ASM-1 missile
- custom centerline pylon
- custom inner pylons
- Metal area improvement on the texture
- Animations updates (rudder and nose wheel)
- Various alpha details addition
More to come (I really have toi start structure lines for example, and make a dragchute model…)!

taking a break is for accomplishing a longer journey
-
Hello,
finally, some ingame tests
Here is Mitsubishi F-1 with its ramp setup, with chocks and custom ladders :
I am very happy of this result. Everything merges well with the game.
Structure lines are still not there I wanted to finish all payload things (weapon and racks/pylons).
Little addition : we have now JASDF specific LAU-60/A.
Nevertheless, the more I get forward, and the more I feel that I still have plenty of work remaining !
Stay tuned !

Hello !
Not so much news, But I added the dragchute, and lowered the aircraft for more realism (it was a bit high on legs :))
Please note that the dragchute is dynamic : I created some vibrations on it and AOA of the aircraft has an incidence on the dragchute’s line of faith (yaw and pitch)
I really like it !
Stay tuned !

@Radium awesome model!
-
Other good job again! Your new baby looks awesome.
Are you going to apply BMS new format PBR on your baby? -
@bstar07 Hello,
Having no access to 4.38 resources, I say, : no PBR for now, by simple lack of capability.
Radium
-
Hello everyone !
I made a lot of progresses today.
Structure lines were started, and I reworked fully weathering of the aircraft.
I also reworked plainting palette, as I found that it was a bit too flashy.
It starts to look good. I am kinda excited to start to have this result, it’s I guess only a coupld of days now before the aircraft itself is ready.
As promised, I will also do two other liveries (full grey and jungle green camo).
I was wondering maybe to add KM-3 starter that would be connected to the aircraft till chocks are off… Not sure yet.
What it sure it that as always, I try to do better than the last time.
Still lot of works !
Stay tuned !

@Radium Those results = just absolutely WOW.
