SST programming is fine contrary what I heard, but need a little help to apply for x52pro.

Hello Pilots,
It is true that SST is a bit “sensitive” and I’ve experienced difficulties using pinkie shift buttons to make usable profiles. I have loaded BMS-FULL but do not store any key binding inside of it. What I am doing now making different SST profiles with different names and forget about pinkie shift. I SST programmed even the pinkie button and made the following profiles without shifting: Gnd-NAV-Lng, Dogfight, AA-Aim9-120, AG. These 4 profiles contain only keybindings necessary for that profile only. If an AG misson finished and I want to land I have to change over in flight to Gnd-NAV-Lng to land. The change over will be done by the i-button. This way I can overcome the button number limitation on my x52pro.
I understand I have to assigne the mode selecting swich to select mode 1-2-3.
Question: how to assigne this task ? Up-right click only shows unprog-fallback-bands-directional exes. Now if the 4 profile created and saved in MODE1, I still have to assigne Mode1 to select ? But how to do that? Help would be appreciated. -
Well, in my experience, SST is not fine for most things… it is fine for some things, though.
After I got tired of trying to fight SST to make a “perfect” HOTAS setup for BMS close to 1:1 similarity with the IRL stick and throttle of the F-16 (as much as able), I decided to learn how to create a DX Keyfile from scratch by hand.
Regarding the pinky-shift issue, this lockup typically occurs when another button is still held down before releasing the pinky button, and so holding the pinky again, and then releasing it should fix this lockup.
I still use SST for the ministick as a Radar cursor, using the “bands” method, and non-modified keys (just arrow keys, no shift or control or alternate), but beyond that, all shift layers are deleted in my SST profile and no other buttons have any actions. If you get tired of fighting SST as I did, you can find my “Falconeer” profile for the X52 Pro in the Joysticks section of these forums.
Best wishes and good luck to you with your SST goals!! I certainly don’t envy the work you have ahead, my friend - and for every frustration you feel in SST, I feel for you as well!

@Louis-0 Not intending to derail your question, so forgive me as I state up front that this isn’t a direct answer, but have you considered possibly using the latest FoxVox as an option to extend your joystick capabilities? I only bring this up because it is brand new functionality (released just over a day ago) and is certainly not well known.
I started my BMS journey using a TM Hotas-X which was very limited and relied heavily on JoyToKey to create button combinations and “shifted layers”. I was always hitting limitations though and encountered several difficulties. Back then I contemplated creating my own version, but was tied up with implementing voice control - until recently. I finally implemented the control features I had wanted and they are freely available now in FoxVox. Here’s a link to the topic where you can learn more and download it if it helps. Plus it has voice control if you want, (or you can leave that turned off and use Semler’s highly loved and recommended AVCS4 plugin for VoiceAttack).

I agree with Semler in sticking with DX bindings as much as possible but of course sometimes you just need/want a little more. If SST is your preference, by all means keep with it, and sorry again for the derail.

@foxster Thanks for your comment. I might be too stubborn but for the time being I shall stick with SST. You see I asked 2 questions and instead of telling what to do I am told (and I really appreciate somebody spending time on my problem) that forget SST and there is a better software for this or to use DX binding. Great! You are most probably right but I would like to have help how to do what I asked for. I even got reply earlier that he uses the SST and the different profiles he can change on the flight with the clutch button. Vow, this is what I want to do, The action with the i-button is exactly with these words written in the SST UI. However, I asked 2 questions which are not in the UI, how to get to the point, where I can change profiles in flight. I have no intention to give offence to anybody but please help if you can.

@SemlerPDX
Your ideas are very much appreciated. May be I am too stubborn and I stick with SST for the time being. Thanks for your advice. -
@Louis-0 I understand perfectly and if I knew anything about SST I would try and help. Best of luck accomplishing your goal!
