how to specify the network card.
-
HI, my computer is configured with multiple network cards using different networks, so can BMS modify the configuration file to specify the use of a network card for networking? Thank you!
-
@asleepwater no but are you having issues to host or connect because if this is to connect, then the default route from your PC should be used

@MaxWaldorf Thank you very much for your reply!

@asleepwater I’m a little surprised (ok, not at all surprised) this isn’t possible somehow in Windows.
Sounds like this 3P tool is the popular option… it uses DLL-injection to intercept winsock API calls, so not something to be considered “officially supported” but maybe worth a try if you have a problematic setup.
(I’ve never tried it – not an endorsement. Just sharing in case you missed this.)

I remember there being a way to prioritize NICs in Windows. This isn’t the way I remember but adjusting the “Interface metric” to a lower number should prioritize it for traffic.
Looks like the old way is replaced by this new way.

@Frederf Yes, I tried to set one of the network connection attributes: the Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4) attribute,[Interface Jump Points (N)]: to the highest, but I have not yet tested whether the networking is more optimized.

@asleepwater lower metric means priority. It should mean if X.X.X.X IP is held by NIC1 then you can choose it

@asleepwater @Frederf @MaxWaldorf
What actually @Frederf and @MaxWaldorf suggested to you is to use “ROUTE” cmd in prompt and adjust “Metric” for selected interface.
It can be done also from “Control Panel/Networking” -> adapter tcp/ipV4 , but using route is more slick.
Do you use “Network Teaming” with both cards ? (I suppose not , as then you would have only one IP address with all your teamed NIC’s)
eg…
https://linustechtips.com/topic/1003888-nic-teaming-windows-10-works/If you have 2 ip’s for 2 nics, as I do here on pic , then just “prioritize” - “METRIC” as @Frederf explained to you , lower metric = greater priority.
Cheers
