SweetFX for BMS
-
Endless options, no need to oversaturate it, just feel it adds to the rather greyish default BMS horizon haze to ground haze, especially at lower alts where there’s less fog in RL.
?
Fog is used to be more dense in low level that in higher altitude.
-
Maybe I misnamed it, Dee-Jay. I was talking about haze in the distance, the effect that at altitudes above 5000, depending on weather and region, the view is less saturated and below up to sea level, saturation and clarity increases until you hit the ground and can see clear but less far…so or similar…:)
PS: You are definately right, too much saturation looks overdone and also it’s a question of taste and monitors IMO.

Works like charm for me !!! Thank you!!!

i have installed sweetfx as per instructions but i see no real difference tried split screen didnt seem to work could i have installed wrong. how do i know if its working
-
Tom - thanks a lot for the info on GaPa. What a nice small utility… It allows to make really subtle changes, and BMS looks better on my monitor with the colour balance shifted towards a slightly warmer image, and a bit more contrasty. This is not the case for many games I play so it’s good to have something that permits selective adjustment. Very simple yet very effective.
Cheers,

Maybe insert the file I attach and try again.
It is a bit less saturated than on my other shots now. If you apply it and hit scroll lock on and off, you should see a difference. Backup your file!
Here is a “tuto” I gathered from posts of this thread…

└SweetFX_settings.txtOk, my falcon wasn’t starting either so I did it this way to get it working:
First, discard that video tutorial.
Second, Update your directX directly from Microsoft website.
Third, Download the SweetFX from here
Fourth, copy d3d9.dll, dxgi.dll, dxgi.fx and injector.ini to Falcon BMS 4.32\Bin\X89
copy SweetFX folder, d3d9.fx, SweetFX readme.txt,SweetFX_preset.txt, sweetFX_settings.txt to Falcon BMS 4.32\DataFifth, Save to anywhere the Attached File from Ron533 SweetFX settings found on post 10 or by downloading it directly from here
Sixth, Rename it to SweetFX_settings.txt and copy and overwrite to Falcon BMS 4.32\DataSeventh (optional), I also unchecked the read only parameter from Falcon directory, made it run (Falcon executable) as administrator and gave permissions to the user “Everyone” overwrite rules.
Worked like a charm to me.
Cheers guys
Also see
Screenshot at post in forum by Ron533!!3. Run BMS.
It runs with split screen by default.
if you want to see a big difference and verify it runs - switch the vibrance in the settings file
(you can use my attached file from post #10), to 1 [enabled] and change (down in the file) Vibrance value to 1.00.
(I run it at 0.10 now, but it depends on your monitor and other settings as well as your taste.)
You will see a split screen with the right side very “cartoonish” colors now…you can toggle SweetFX on/off by pressing the (default) “scroll lock” button. you will see the “old” falcon look.
(you can edit the buttons in the “injector.ini” file).you can alt-tab to the settings file (you can leave it open) and change values there. save, and alt-tab back to the game.
Press the (default) “Pause” key (next to scroll lock key) - it will “inject” the changes you just made, so you can see it “on the fly”…
print screen takes SweetFX screenshots to the data folder (other than the default screenshot folder).Tweak it and share your screenshots with the settings file attached for us to learn from.
ENJOY!!
Cheers“Setup”/Ron**

TommyGunThanks a lot, TommyGun!
I also like it since it does not effect anything or needs any installer files. Also you only need to place the folder anywhere, hit the exe…THAT’s ALL…amazing. If you forget to disable it after shutting down the PC, the profile will stick, simply run it again and hit default. The worst thing that happened to me was I had to repeat this step, but never anything harmful happened.
Cheers

brills got it working now just tweaking settings
-
From what you say I gather that I’ve been doing something wrong. So, once again, and please be patient… I understand I need to uncheck ‘multisampling’ in the UI settings, right? How about the config editor settings, should I also disable the hardware section with all its shaders etc.? Then remains the question of my Catalyst CC settings; should I also leave them all at ‘Application dependent’? thx
-
Leave all CC settings to application controlled.
Follow my instructions on this post.

I don’t do that and the program still works for me. Clue is maybe to have the proper last upgrade of DX for your system and also to place the files exactly where they have to be.
My biggest concern about this program however is if it possibly can access any other hardware/gfx settings on your PC.
I got the subtle feeling other apps / sims looked different as well.
And TBH gapa still seems the less invasive choice.;) -
I think that tweaking graphics with sweetfx is great, not seen any other apps suffer but i do suffer about 7-10 fps drop in game. I still have my AA in CCC set to 8 it gives a smoother appearance without any FPS drop. Currently in Balkens campaign. The new terrain is great everybody is working on new terrain and 3D cities etc which i think is fantastic. this sim has what other sims do not have and that is a dynamic campaign, which ebthralls me.:(
-
I placed the files where they should be the moment the link to SweetFX appeared in the forum. Then I played with the UI settings and the AMD CCC and finally got it to work, but obtained about the same FPS drop as sub101 mentioned above. Actually, I’ve done all that out of sheer curiosity, but I must say I like the sim as it is; and even if the graphics now available to us show any shortcomings at all, it’s something I can easily live with.
Oh, and my good old friend, Mr. Edit, says I should thank all who made an effort to help. Much appreciated!…

Hi all,
About problems reported with FPS drop using SweetFX, please try to compare apples to apples… meaning - if you test AA, then check it without sweetfx installed first.
Verify AA in CCC for example is also turned off, or is set to “use application settings”,
other wise you will be running CCC AA both with SweetFX SMAA turned on…then you will definitely have an FPS drop!
check a specific scenario in a known location and angle ,and mark your FPS.
Then switch AA off in BMS and install sweetfx. check the same exact scenario only with “SMAA_ANTIALIASING 1” switched on. verify all the rest of the switches are OFF.
also split screen.
Then check again your FPS in same scenario.
All reports made so far, comparing “apples to apples” , have higher FPS.
off-course if you check it with HDR/Bloom etc’, it is not for “free”, and has it’s FPS cost.
You must run the test’s correctly or you will not get true results.Regarding CrazyTom’s concerns about “invasion” to other games… well, it is installed, or rather copy paste action, directly to your specific game folder, and runs only when you run that exe where all the dll’s are.
it’s a known safe method, like ENBseries, or “iCEnhancer” for GTA for example.
It has got nothing to do with other game folders and/or the graphic driver.
you have nothing to be concerned about.
it is safe!Another thing,
I’m playing with the SMAA settings and get very nice results regarding AA, it looks smooth and all. the problem is in the cockpit on the MFD’s,
the fonts seems a bit blurry with it. I could not find good enough settings for that.
I’m using ATI 5870. a friend with Nvidia 570 has reported no such problems.
Has anyone noticed it and found a good settings/balance for this issue?
Again, verify your drivers AA is OFF, or set to “application settings” to get true results. Thanks!

Hi ron i might try and tweak smaa up a bit from 0,05 as i do have slightly jagged edges at the moment i can cope with a 7-10 drop in fps as i still have approx 45-50:D
-
here is my set,did some tweak to Lift Gamma Gain settings to make it look more like a RL pic.but still not good.
hope someone good at that can give a help. -
Nice Work M8 !!!
