DED Alignment questions
-
I am working on making my checklist flow more efficient.
During DED alignment is it okay (ie. will it mess anything up) to backout of the alignment page and do some other setup tasks - such as setting up the VHF channel, setting laser code, TACAN yardstick, etc.
Are there any DED pages / tasks I shouldn’t change during the INS alignment count up?
Once I’ve completed those other tasks - how do I get back to the alignment page?
Is the INS count up process detailed in the documentation somewhere? I want o understand what the numbers mean in terms of time remaining.
Thanks.

IDK if you are supposed to or not. But I always set up everything in the DED while INS alignment is going on.

@jcook the only thing that will mess up an alignment is moving the aircraft - you can do everything else. Go to the menu with LIST-6. As for what the numbers mean, the easy explanation is that the left number counts minutes and the right the quality. 4 min for newer blocks if complete and 8 min for older.

I’ve always powered on the DED, waited for it to come on, Switch to Norm, then proceed to set up things. Never had a problem leaving the INS page.

Thanks guys for your feedback.
Sounds like i can save quite a bit of time on my startup procedures with this info.
