Aviation books

I know these days we read less since youtube is with us, but sometimes I still like to take books in my hand. This came today:
-
That series is awesome. They are great resource for detailed modelling.
-
@hiuuz There are books exactly like this for the F16 as well : The Modern Viper Guide : The F-16C/D Exposed
https://www.amazon.fr/Modern-Viper-Guide-F16C-Exposed/dp/0979506417
Another thicker one from the same author covers F-16A/B as well, same series.
-
@jacqueslees I agree. I have Danny Coremans’s book on the F-16 A/B/C/D, and it is full of very nice photographs.
-
Reading is still amazing…

Nice and Interesting collection. Vipers in the storm is still one of my favorites.
-
@tiag I assume these are the bookshelves in a library, right?
If not, you sir are one enthusiastic airman!
Anyhow great collection.
-
@bbostjan not library, my own lib.
Nowadays I buy more PDFs since its easier to transport and read when “en route”.
I was triggered by the OP about new generation not reading as much…they dont know what they are missing. -
@tristam299 oh it is hard to choose one book. So many amazing ones.
There is one I read few years ago…Loud and Clear by Spector…israeli pilot of the cold war era. He flew almost everything in the IDF. Amazing stories.
Also the Fighter Pilot, biography by Robin Olds. The guy also flew almost everything in the late 40-70s (including WWII and Nam)…an ace in fighters.
One of the most impressive ones, not about airplanes, is the 19 minutes to Live…tells about the history of a helicopter pilot in the Nam. Very scary thing. -
“Loud and Clear” and “Fighter pilot” are very good reads yes.
Enjoyed the recent MiG Diaries (Cuban/SAAF/Angolan accounts of that Cold War conflict)
Cannot say my reading has been reduced and most of the You tube videos are such a poor standard - if those guys spent some time actually reading things properly that might improve things.
-
@hiuuz Looks good! Eagles from the old school.
-
This is marvellous. Highly recommended.
-
Thanks for the recommendation!
At the moment I have these and looking for some F-15A/C books. The Tornado Warlord is the only one what a bit dissapointed me, because it’s basically a photo album but only with external photos from the whole plane without any details. Plus I have books on my own language from the Hungarian Royal Air Force in WW2.
-
And if you like hornets, you should read this one
-
And if you like F16 (block 40 in particular…), this is a must

Don’t know about A/C version, but “Strike Eagle - Flying the F15E in the Gulf War” (W.L. Smallwood) is a very interesting collection of 335th and 336th FS Strike Eagles pilots experience, during the deployement in the Perisan Gulf.
-
@hiuuz This is your book. Edited in 1998. It has a lot of written information: 112 pags and mainly covering A/B/C/D versions.
-
@tristam299 Thanks, I will look after this
