Unsolved Lack of ATC response when requesting departure
-
When requesting a departure from tower and your takeoff time is in the future, no response is given from the tower, if you ask once more, approval is given for departure.
I would like to suggest that the tower replies something related to planned take off time for the flight, just to inform the pilot. What we have today works, just that it’s a bit hard to understand for newcomers. Adding an extra voice line for this would make it more crisp.
Details below:
Background:
Auto-fragged campaign mission on Balkans, take off from Aviano AB (or any theater or air base, we’ve seen it happen many times)I’ve also seen this with manually fragged campaign missions.
Runtime - scenario 1:
This specific mission, I’m starting via “TAXI” I talk to ground controller via UFC CH 2 and get clearance to taxi to runway and hold short. When arriving at the runway threshold, where I hold short, I contact the tower UFC CH 3.
No reply is given if my take off time is in the future. If I ask the same question again, tower comes back and approves our entry on the runway and take off.
Runtime - scenario 2:
Start “Runway”, player spawns in on runway threshold and contacts tower on UFC CH 3 with request for departure. If take off time is in the future, no answer is given, if player asks again for departure, approval is given.
Unknowns:
Is ATC busy with other flights?
Assumption is that tower waits to clear you to the runway before getting close to the take off time.If you want more data, please let me know. I can run a few missions additionally to test it.
Additional info:
How close to the hold short line should I be when talking to tower? I’m close to it, but not on it. - relates to @skippermike comment.
Post made by @Amadeus75 is what I’m trying to explain.

Sorry but you need to be more precise here
When you mean tower you mean ground freq or tower freq?
Are you commiting ramp or taxi ?
Please describe accurately your repro case

As far as I know, this is intended.
A second call for departure is a request for a quick take-off, when possible.
So you do not necessarily have to wait until your regular start time. But I stay with you. There are situations in which it feels as if ground (or tower) forgot about you.

Did ground control authorise the switch to tower, or you did I it without authorisation? In this case try moving closer to the runway.

When you approach the runway entry point, Ground instructs you to switch to Tower. If there is time until your departure then you get a Hold Short message from Tower. You can ask for departure again, and this time you get a clearance. This is described in the manual. But if you would like to stick to proper time than a “you have 3 minutes to departure” like message would be informative.
Besides that sometimes you get a “Position and hold” message than later a clearance on the runway, but I don’t know the criteria for this case.

@Amadeus75
This is what I mean. In my humble opinion, it would be nice if tower let you know why it ignores first request. -

“Position and hold” is often given to me when another aircraft has just landed but still occupies the runway.

Just a “Gamble-1, Negative. Position and Hold”. So basically state a “Negative” followed by the most recent command they gave you

Sorry guys but I need a step by step repro case.
I always get a response from ATC so please explain me how to repro
