Solved BMS Installation Issues and Errors - Can't Update/Can't MP
-
@hoover THanks Hoover, just tried this. Moved the downloader to my D drive and made the entire drive an exception. When I run it I get this error:
Could it be because Falcon is on my D drive? Seems like things break as the downloader outputs something to my C temp drive.
-
@CaptnHambre Possibly a previous version was not uninstalled properly? Or D drive has errors?
-
How much space have you got left on C:?
-
@MaxWaldorf 400 Gigs on C

This is definitly possible, maybe even likely… Not sure how to figure out if it’s the case or not though. I’ve done so many reinstalls at this point…
-
@CaptnHambre For reinstall. I would uninstall with uninstaller then remove all entries from registry that has to do with BMS. Then reinstall BMS. This worked for me a long time ago when I screwed up an uninstall. For disk errors use chkdsk and sfc /scannow.
-
@Icarus Thanks. I’ve done a reg clean on BMS in the past but will try again tonight.

@CaptnHambre I think (Max correct me if I’m wrong) the “Base.7z.001 not available” message is a networking error.
Anything unusual re networking? (Corp or school network, with a proxy or VPN?)
-
@airtex2019 means the user is either unable to download the file, no space on drive C (temp folder) or his IP / ISP is blocked by our provider or my rules (which are here for a reason and won’t change)…
-
I may have lost track a bit so I apologize in advance. I can’t quite tell why the Downloader needs to be installed and run, because:
- The torrent download seemed fine and will provide the full 4.37.3.0 install
- The hotfixes H1 and H2 can then be fetched with the updater from the launcher
@CaptnHambre, did you run Update from within the launcher as shown here?
Or did you run the Updater.exe directly from the root BMS folder - not sure if/why that would make a difference though. Could maybe also try to invoke the launcher with “Run as Administrator” (unless you already do that)
-
@jayb Yes, this is the error I get when clicking update (its referenced in the initial post):
Thinking I’m getting close to just wiping windows - nice fresh start.
-
@CaptnHambre Forgot to ask butI hope you’re installing BMS in a separate folder outside of falcon 4.0 or program files…
-
@MaxWaldorf D:\Games per the screenshot above
-
@airtex2019 try installing it directly into the root drive
-
@airtex2019 hey, thanks. I’m just on Verizon Fios via WiFi, I don’t think anything unusual but will look over my router settings.
-
@airtex2019 yes and have also tried direct in C:/
-
@MaxWaldorf Hey Max, before I give up hope on this, just wanted to check if its possible one of my windows settings is causing the issue. I have manually changed my default saved games folder to D drive a long time ago. Is it possible that could have some effect on installation as I’m sure 95% of users keeps “Saved Games” on the C drive. Just wanted to check if you think that could cause an issue,
Thanks!

Are you able to open these links, in a browser? (Specifically using Edge, which will exercise the same certificate trust-chain on the OS – mostly the same path as Alt Launcher is taking, which results in the 403 error, above…)

@CaptnHambre If you continue to have problems updating through the network, we can help you with our OFFLINE method that I provide to my guys on the wing.

Sorry just getting back from traveling this week. This is what I get when I open in edge.
