@Bayonet Definitely check out the video above. One tip is to invert the toe brake axis’(just in case the vid didn’t mention that).
Let us know what you find -
@drtbkj not my video!
(h/t @AviationPlus thanks for making great BMS setup and tutorial content)

Sorry for the delayed reply, real life interruption…
Thanks for all your help, I played around with the axes on my VIRPIL HOTAS as per your advice and the rudder is now performing normally. The AB and Idle “ticks” in Setup are still not holding.
However, having endured the trauma of transferring everything (TrackIr, Voice Attack, WPD and Tacview etc.) to a new computer, I’ll live with that for now.Thanks again,
Bayonet.

If you are using the launcher. Do not go into the BMS Setup Controllers, and touch stuff… set the AB and Idle in the launcher. Or am I mis-reading this.

@Bayonet
In case it’s not been made clear — you need to choose: If you want to set things up via the game’s Setup page UI, then start the game from the .exe and make all your changes in the Setup page. If you use the AL even by accident, IIRC, it will wipe your settings.If you set things up via the AL (recommended!), then start the game from the AL every time and make all your changes via the AL. Any change you make in the Setup page UI, it will be gone on your next restart, so DO NOT do this. Figure out how that change can be done via the AL and do it there. You should be able to do everything via the AL, from keys, axis setup, etc.

@Bayonet Hi, Plus 1 with Quasi. Just so we’re all on the same page, I suggest you try setting everything via the the now-standard-Launcher , then use that to enter BMS.
Let us know how that works, and hang in there. Setting up new PC’s is soooo much fun -
@Quasi_Stellar I see in FCTRL in the Launcher, there is a selection of options for “Throttle Idle” and various Afterburner settings.
How are they set in the launcher?
On my Virpil throttle there are physical detents which I feel when the throttle levers pass over them. In the old Set Up (which I promise never to use again ) I could set the Idle and Afterburner there with a mouse click.
There’s no AB/Idle buttons on my throttle to map.
@Atlas @drtbkj Thanks again, “Setting up new PC’s is soooo much fun” Eh, no. Never again!
Regards,
Bayonet

It sounds as if you are looking in KeyMapping, the FCTRL section, but you want to map your throttle under AxisAssign. Here:
Under “Assign”, you can set when afterburner should kick in, to correspond with your physical detent on the CM3.

I understand now, eventually
I hadn’t spotted the AB and Idle tabs in the throttle axis section. Not seeing the wood for the trees, I suppose.
Thanks for your perseverance.
Appreciated,
Bayonet.

@Bayonet getting the idle-detent configured and calibrated correctly will be a bit harder
feel free to start a new thread here, if you need further assist with that
(I try to take these learnings and incorporate them into the default setup templates, for each device. We don’t have a template for Virpil CM3 yet…)
