As a new VR user, I find myself using the analog instruments more than before
-
Hey guys!
Coming from DCS, I started playing BMS 2-3 weeks ago, still learning how to use all the systems and getting used to the flight model.
Last monday my Quest 3 arrived, my first VR set, and ooohhh boy head tracking was good but this is at an another level.
When using head tracking my main data source of the plane situation was the hud, but now that the altimeter, machmeter, attitude indicator, vertical speed, AoA indicator and HSI are at a glance of an eye I find them kind of easy to read and figure out what the plane is doing.
Of course I still use the HUD for waypoints and of course A/G (I haven’t learned A/A yet), but not as much as before when using head tracking.
Do you have a prefered source of info for the plane status when playing in VR?

HMCS when dogfighting, otherwise I find it distracting and turn it off.@Enginikts said in As a new VR user, I find myself using the analog instruments more than before:

Why even refer to the analog instruments? All of these except for maybe VVI and HSI are on the HUD or next to it (AoA).
I do occasionally turn off my HUD when doing AAR just to practice doing it “by feel” rather than by instruments, but even then I don’t look at the analog instruments.
