AGM158 JASSM launch requirements

its a glide weapon so …
Try Angels 25 at 30nm (JIZ bracket about 1/3rd of the way down from the top of the bracket)…
Hope this helps

@gazaret said in AGM158 JASSM launch requirements:
in all cases, my missiles just crashed into the ground halfway to target.
mountainous terrain?

is this modelled accurately in BMS?
-
@Ironman53rd - it doesn’t sound like it…
-
@Pegasus82 yep, in rolling thunder campaign (i added jassm via mission commander)
@airtex2019 no, just water.i found solution! Just need to launch jassm above 20k feet

“Try Angels 25 at 30nm (JIZ bracket about 1/3rd of the way down from the top of the bracket)…”
As I said … if its motor is modelled correctly it should reach the target (topography permitting) as soon as its inside the JIZ bracket. That’s because the JIZ bracket takes account of both the launch altitude and the distance to target, it is a dynamic calculation, but it cant see mountains !!! that would be asking too much for this smart weapon.
Hence my suspicion that its modelled like a glide weapon

@Ironman53rd - yet another problem for war at sea modeling in BMS…if you launch against a well armed ship of size and are above the horizon (where they can see you) wrt the ship, you should expect to be shot down.
If the BMS JAASM is a glide bomb, it would be more realistic to forget about it and employ a Harpoon. Or at least, it would be better.
-
@Stevie I have never used one against a ship of any size …
My thoughts are it is modelled as a glide weapon, so use it accordingly …

@Ironman53rd - depends on what you really want out of BMS. If you want realism, then ignore the parts that aren’t and use the parts that are.
If you’re just “playing a game”, then have fun widdit…
