Spotting Units in TE
-
When I create a TE for use online I am having problems hiding SAM sites. I want to make it so clients cant see mobile SAM sites or mobile units. I have tried un-spotting them in Mission Commander or commanding them to move and then run the clock before hosting the TE. The units disappear on the server UI as they should but when clients connect they are able to see the mobile units. There is no JSTAR in the TE and no other flights flying near the units, or even any other friendly ground units near these unites. Is this a bug with the TEs? or am I doing something wrong? Below are the screen shots of the client and server taken at the same time

HI!
I want to make it so clients cant see mobile SAM sites or mobile units.
Don’t waste you time … this is a known MP bug.

Use Airlift to move them… that way they will not… for a guide how to do it u can find the links in my Hot List.

Or Look here:
OK guys, first let me say that as it currently functions, airmobile has a limited application value. The main problem is that once dropped, a unit tends to not stay put and wants to travel back home. It can still be used somewhat, one purpose being to capture cities, allowing you to complete a campaign, especially one that is stalled.
Before going into the steps to set up an airmobile, there are a few other things that will help you to know, that I will now point out. One thing that you will see is that when the airmobile unit (likely a C-130) completes the pickup point and moves to the drop point, the designated pickup units’ icon on the map will stay at the pickup point until the drop is completed. So no need to worry about a failed pickup when you see this occur. Once the drop is completed the units’ icon will show at the drop point.
Another oddity, is that no matter how precisely you select the drop point, sometimes the dropped unit will first appear a small distance from the precise drop point, thereby never capturing the desired city. This occurs even when you witness the c-130 doing the airdrop on the precise location. We must therefore place the drop point 2 miles, at a minimun, beyond the desired city in order for his travel back home to capture the desired city. You can use the ruler tool or zoom in all the way and place the drop point 8 of the little map squares beyond the city. I would place this point on a road however.
One last thing that I can think of is that you need to be aware that if the airmobile unit, the c-130, feels threatened, he will ‘drop’ where he is and RTB. I usually provide some air support for him, DCA or whatever you like.
On to the method, and I will make it overly specific for clarity so please don’t take offense if I mention some things everyone already knows.
Step 1- using OOB, or however you can, find the airlift squad you intend to use, and looking at it’s status window, uncheck ‘set by HQ’. FYI, without this the airmobile unit will often ‘drop’ too early enroute even if not threatened. You can always turn it back on later if you want to.
Step 2-Pick a ground unit for the pickup. I like the ‘armoured’ units best, but try to choose one made for traveling because certain ones seem to get about the business of moving right away. Once you know who you want to use, right click him and choose ‘add package’. Select ‘new’. In the ‘add flight’ window choose ‘c-130’ (for long distance stuff), ‘airmobile’, ‘size 1’, and I do ‘skill ace’ but not sure if it matters or not here. Click ok.
A headsup here, and I’m certain that it will occure at some time if you airmobile flights very much, is that anytime you close the ‘addflight’ window but find a need to re-open it, the ‘airmobile’ ‘role’ setting will reset to ‘airlift’ and if you don’t catch it you will waste lot of time setting up a flight only to need delete it and have to start all over. FYI- One instance when the need to reopen the ‘addflight’ window occurs sometimes for me is if upon clicking ‘ok’ for the ‘add flight’ window’ I receive a ‘bad timing’ error. I mention this now in order to provide you with some direction to proceed if this happens to you also. When it happens to me, using the ‘add flight’ window I will add 5 minutes to the ‘TO’ time and 10 minutes to the ‘time on target’. If that fails you can keep trying different time combinations, adding to both parameters, but after a few attempts of adjusting both it usually comes down to adding more time to the ‘time over target’ in order for the c-130 to make a long trip I suppose. It is also possible to just add one hour to both times, and reduce it somewhat, if you want to, at the completion of the entire setup. This works for me at times also, and I only go into this explaination as it can be frustrating to setup, and I wanted to give you a few clues on what may work when it is being uncooperative. There have been a few times when I’ve had to just cancel and forget about it until some more campaign clock time runs and try again.
step 3-Once the ‘add flight’ is accepted, move the ‘add package’ window to the left out of the way of the map. Open ‘flight plan’ (at the bottom of map), we will need to set things up just right here, so start by moving the 'flight plan window to the left out of the way, on top of the ‘add package’ window.
Disregard any red steerpoint lines at this time, and do not adjust any airspeeds until all 5 steerpoints below are set up. This method can save a ton of headaches regarding red steerpointline issues (not only for airmobile too!):
First, at STPT 1 lock both locks.
At STPT 2 fix it so ‘TOS’ is unlocked and ‘airspeed’ is locked. This should be the ‘pickup’ steerpoint.
If STPT 3 is ‘push’ or ‘nav’ delete it.
STPT 3 should now be ‘airdrop’, fix it so 'TOS is unlocked, and ‘airspeed’ is locked. (same settings as in STPT 2)
Delete any nav or split STPT’s
Landing STPT’s 4 and 5 should be set the same as in STPT 2 and 3. ‘TOS unlocked’ and ‘airspeed’ locked. To restate: you should finish with:
STPT 1- locked, locked - takeoff
STPT 2- unlocked, locked - pickup
STPT 3- unlocked, locked - airdrop
STPT 4- unlocked, locked - land
STPT 5- unlocked, locked - landMy philosophy here is simple is better whenever possible.
Should there have been any red steerpoint lines on the map prior to this setup, they should all be gone now. But ‘if’ there is still one left just look at the relevant steerpoint in the ‘flight plan’ and only adjust the airspeed, as usually this is all that is needed to fix it. No need to change any lock status for this.
Close the ‘flight plan’ window, leaving only the ‘add package window’ still open until we are finished.
Step 4- Now drag steerpoint 3, the ‘drop steerpoint’ to 2 miles beyond the appropriate location.
That’s it, double check the map and if you like it you are finished, click ‘ok’ to close ‘add package’.
You can now frag more ‘airmobile’ if needed.
This explanation was tailored for capturing cities, but I have also had some success moving AD units, though it was mixed success with some staying put and some not. I hope to discover why but at this point do not know. Also, should you want to use helo’s to airmobile, you will find that the helo’s frag order will be and remain blank. Just proceed as outlined above and ignore the blank frag order, but realize that you will not be able to edit the mission once completed because you will not have access to it in the frag order, you will only be able to delete it from using ATO. Also I would like to say that this ‘explanation’ is just my anecdotal experience, and may vary from your experience, but hopefully will give you a good starting point.

You have also those documents (dedicated to AF but are still a excellent reference):
