@ “Crossup” and “demer928”
Go for that theater Gentlemen!
You will have my small support in creation of NavAids and their list with data based to real world as also some nice IAP charts for the most important airbases ;)!
With regards,
Nikos. -
Well, I’ve looked high and low and have concluded that my screen shots of my photoreal, imported from Fly!2 terrain pictures died with Frugals. Still have to rescue some old harddrives at my old house and check them, their the right vintage. BUT I did find a page of tiles in my TerrrainView folder which are the some of ones my photoreal test photos used. Should give you’all a taste of it

@Crossup, check your PM’s

@Nikos and others……Stay Tuned
I stay tuned since years, LOL.

Ok, totally forgot I had a Yahoo Hawaii theater group. So fortunately several screen shots from my test of using hires tiles from Fly!2 still exists. Also now realize the ole memory is not too accurate….I was doing this testing from Xmas 2001 to May 2002. That is actually before I made SP3 and BMS compatible versions of Hawaii.
From the descriptions my memory was correct too that I did have a working campaign and tested the terrain while playing it…while it worked, missions were generated VERY slowly and I never figured out how to accelerate the action.
Enjoy… -

True, but it is a BIG job to do so…on the other hand we’ve had 15 years IRC a guy single handedly wrote the first DirectX graphics module, not long after someone said how it would take a team a year to do that. A lot of people probably dont know that the orginal code ran a million lines…bound to be more now and its enormously intertwined…

Any hope for this theatre?
As total Magnum P.I. fan I had so hoped to once fly over a photoreal Oahu. -
Crossup?
-
keep it up! flying over my old stomping grounds when i was assigned to the 25th id would be wicked cool

Between Hawaii and Guam i choose Guam.
So let’s leave THE man do his job…
C’ on Dave we are near Christmas, give us a nice preview of Guam theater. It is not need to be perfect.
Nikos.P.S. Oops, we are on Hawaii section

+1, indeed.
Don’t worry, Nikos, right place or not this is not the matter, I think… your statements above are true for both those theaters IMHO.(P.S: And what about to include TDU2 in BMS, I ask?)

Book Him Danno!!!
And don’t turn him loose till this theater flies.
Hope you guys can make it happen. -
So I was out surfing at the Marine base today and I saw something very, very cool.
There were two Hornets in the bird bath when I drove across the runway to get to the surf spot. A few minutes later I hear this jet coming off the runway and turn to look and it’s this little white Lear-type of jet. Ok, cool, but not the coolest thing ever.
30 seconds later I hear another jet taking off and it’s this:
Dude was flying it just like a fighter, about 20 feet off the deck right over the water and then pulls up to form on his buddy.
And then 5 minutes later two of these guys took off chasing them:
Very awesome. I’ve never seen a camo’d Lear jet before!
-
So what is this Pheonix Air chap packing on the right pylon? I have to guess it’s one of three things:
(a.) Towed target
(b.) EW pod
(c.) Dummy ASM (training round) for simulating threats to ship and fighter crews
…Then again, I could have just tried the website: http://phoenixair.com/milops_tacspecs.html
Their roster as I know of doesn’t list the Hunters as an asset. I guess what I really want to know is why the US military needs all of these contractors to assist with training. It just seems very shady. Kind of like hiring mercenaries… which most contractors are regardless.
*EDIT
Here’s the source of your Hunters:

^Scroll down to the “Civil” section on the page to get a brief synopsis of their operation. The two Hunters you saw that day are the only two they have in Hawaii.

Yeah, I’ve seen the Hunters lots of times. I’ve never seen the camo’d Lear before.
They’re having a big exercise out here right now, so it could be part of that. Playing OPFOR air or something. I wasn’t close enough to see if the Lear had anything under his wings, but the Hunters always seem to be lugging all those drop tanks for some reason.

A little action on the North Shore from today:
