How to add your own squadron patch / pilot picture
-
Hello,
Here I have my squadron patch picture and my driver and I would like it in the BMS integrate as many other squadron pilot. What procedure is followed to dot you apply.
Thank you cordially.
-
The problem I have is that there is white in the middle of my patch and every time I click the Alpha button for the checkered background it changes the white in the patch also.
-
Ok, I give up.
I have been using gimp trying to put my patch in the logbook and all I get are white and pink pixeled dots in a square. -
@Jammer:
Hey guys. Having a problem. For some reason I get pink borders as depicted below:

At first I thought it was the borders around the original picture, but then I cropped it and I still get that pink box around the edges. Any ideas?
I have the same problem with the Magenta broders.
Do you have a solution to this?Kind regards

JorikI can help you with that
Part of the secret is also explained by Dunc (see post on the first page):
Note: it is important NOT to use aliasing for the edges of the logo! BMS does not support āpartial transparencyā, i.e. a pixel can either be solid, or transparent. No āblendingā between transparency and pixel color is allowed. Usually, this is achieved by scaling with ānearest neighborā as opposed to the usual ābicubicā.Another part of the secret is to have your logo outlined very tiny by the same gray color as the background of the logbook. This will almost be invisable. By keeping the gray outline un-aliased, you can keep your logo outline aliased, i.e. your logo will look nice and the invisable gray will take the damage

Followed all the instructions to a T and while the file shows up in the list, when I click and choose it, the existing squadron patch does not change.

Redoā¦ u missed somethingā¦ r u on another theater then stock Korea?
-
EDIT Tried with original Korea theater, same problem.
-
but like you converted the image in 16 bit, it does not work with gimp?
-
Hi
FYI Iāve talked to the folks who maintain my favourite command line image manipulation tool - ImageMagick. As of 6.9.0.3 it supports 5 bit (per channel = 16 bit) TGA now so you can edit a 96x96 (with magenta background), say, PNG and convert it like so (attempts to coerce Gimp into writing this correctly failed):
convert.exe urbatch.png -depth 5 -compress none urbatch.tga
Hope that helps

Hi all. I found my old F-16 squadron patch
http://http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/107th_Fighter_Squadron
(107th FS āThe Red Devilsā Now a A-10 Squadron.) They are stationed out of Selfridge ANG in Michigan just north of Detroit.
I have been trying to use GIMP to make this patch so I can proudly wear it in my sim but I can not seem to make it 16 bit. I have done everything else in the instructions. I do not have a option to save it as a 16 bit TGA. Is there a plugin out there to do this you GIMP users?
TIA,

Iām not aware of how to do this in gimp directly, check my post before yours, with image magick you can convert a png out of gimp into 16 bit uncompressed the.

But do other people in MP see it?

Thank for the reply. A user named Cloud9 helped me out. He made the patch for me.
