Can't get IVC up!
-
Hey all!
So we recently had a squadron shuffle with who’s hosting, and it’s my turn now. The game hosting is fine, but I can’t get anyone on IVC. I’ve followed the Krause guide for setup; ports are forwarded for both BMS and IVC (it has also work in the past with no issues until now).I’ll launch Falcon, open the IVC Server and minimize, followed by launching the game and setting up the server as usual. I’ve had my guys try various things to get into IVC with me such as putting my WAN IP into the “Dedicated IVC Server”, leaving it blank, etc, all with no joy.
I also can’t connect on IVC even when I’m not hosting. I usually just open the IVC client and minimize it and it worked without issues up until maybe a few weeks ago. No changes in the network or hardware or anything when it went out.
Thoughts? Using Teamspeak just doesn’t have the same “ness” about it as hearing the radio. Really takes away from the realism for us.
Thank you all!!

Stick your computer’s local ip address in the router DMZ and turn off windows firewall.

Hi Spook9,
Looks like a firewall issue? And has it worked before?
When you start the IVC server, don’t minimise it so you can see who is joining and whether the IVC server is creating the channels it needs to. It does this automatically btw.
Also, in the IVC window, put in your IP (http://whatismyipaddress.com/) and also put this in your dedicated IVC window. Check the boxes, and make sure the clients connecting press ‘enter’ after entering the bandwith.
When hosting, make your IP 0.0.0.0 and enter ‘localhost’ in the dedicated IVC server field. Basically what the manual says.Again, it should work this way.

Thanks for the input! I’ll give it a shot and report how it goes.

When you say @Buster:
Also, in the IVC window, put in your IP (http://whatismyipaddress.com/).
are you saying the IVC client window? Which IVC window are you talking about for this one?
If so, should I be opening both the IVC server AND the client?

….
If so, should I be opening both the IVC server AND the client?
Only if you’re the host. Players connecting to the host only need the client.
Client should open automatically if you’ve saved the host connection info in your comms address/phone book.
As far as ports …. if you want to test your ports to insure they are open, this is the best tool I’ve found: http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/simple_port_tester.html
