However,
what I hope is that someone make textures for my models. Well - Iam simply to dump to make that good. If somebody would do it and beginn starting Problems I could use the new texture and map it on the model. It is allways hard vor me the create a new Template and push it over the model. That is an examble why I share my work. I know that is hard stuff.
I tryed an examble- how it could be. I used my Su27 model which have an very bad Texture. First was I loaded it into Photoshop:
Them I started to make the planes that have have to be textured new
At next I paint the rivets and Panel lines (You Need time alcohol and Music)
If you have done this, you can start with some new layers and add weathering, dirt and colours ( Everywhere the engineers grabing, Walking, APU smoking)
Them you could make the Colour sheme - should be Close to an original
Finally copy it all into one and merge it:
If you made a new template with other positions of wing, fuselage, or so I can use that and map it on the model- That would be very easy.
An d finally the a lazy model can be looking very fine in BMS

The left and right wings are using the same part of the skin. As long as you do not create a skimap where are not shared surfaces nobody can make real and perfect skins. Mimic a real life skin is possible but always will be unreal because camo schemes are never symmetrical…

Well,
I think there are two different ways. My Intention is not to push any model into 4.33. The BMS Team make this sim better every year. And they uses diffent models which are Close to their philosophy. My way is to create my own models and share it as mod.
And that is very important- if I make a model I wont view about the BMS way. I try some things, work with them in TE`s or Campaigns. When it works- I used it. When someone will try it too- why not. That is the reason why I share my work. I dont like high Resolution pics with models and after that there is simply no result for the commuity. I saw so many diffent Projects which starts, and after some Ages they runned out without any result. But you can be sure- When I post it- I share it.
So I really can understand when Molny or someone else make thair critics about FPS Drops or so on - But at the end I only want to give a possibility , Show ideas and give the community some kicks were the jorney can go in future.

In the list of models I think I finished the list of vehicles, can you give me hints on what other categories have updated models, this way I don’t have to search through the entire database.

Second how many times u notice the difference between those two?
Till now I never noticed such difference. Maybe it’s there but few can see it.I saw it also and I thought it’s a clever way to both make it better and smaller.

At first sight because as I have said the symmetrical weathering and camo are unreal and totally unnatural. Almost all Hungarian players saw the difference at first sight. On most of AC only on one wing is roundel. –-> The two roulndels on both sides are very, very noticable…
Creating for very high poly models such a skinmap is similar to build a new million dollar house and do low quality paintjob on the house…

When u fly a mission will u ever notice the weathering on the opponent which u might take out in bvr?Ok maybe for lod1 but for lod2 3 and so on its useless…
90% u don’t even see it. So for me sound like a compromise that I could live. Also not minor count all the vehicles and do the math… They are alot.
I’m not saying to use this rule on every model but for the majority of them this rule could be used.

Considering this statement why even we want 30k models…? Or any highpoly models at all.
My aspect is very simple. If you have a HQ and detailed model give it them a good skinmap.

i’m with Molni here
As a Skinner, i aim for quality work and attention to detail. The imposed Mirror effect will spoil the level of quality i’m after and i won’t even start skinning it -
same way terrain is sacrificed
same way BMS team putted regulations for current models
same way current airports rwy txy are the same
same way u don’t have dedicated server appAnd again I’m not saying for all… but it’s a nice way for models that r not so high in priority…
For the future imagine integrating cities where every building and every buildings side should be different texture as u say… Should 3d designers design and balconies… Imagine the textures needed not for a city but for a block of buildings…
Trees? they should all be unique? in shape and textures?
Also those aircraft skins are not just one set… but per squadron per country… and so on…
If u got what Wavey Dave said about reaching the margins of memory then u shouldn’t say that… he said they pack 16 buildings with normal damaged and destroyed in the same texture file.
Sure I like it to be large and have high poly models and 8192x8192 texture only for one wheel of an aircraft but this would take FPS to it’s knees if done in the majority and as u see day by day new guys come in and every month we see and new additions of WIP models. Tom made large skins and to balance that (probably) he used the same texture mapping for the wings.
Also those skins are not just one… but per squadron per country… and so on… -

You’re really an artister and i used your previous models in BfB 1.1.5 in Singleplayer and in Multiplayer on Falcon Online server, without FPS issue. We host multiplayer campaigns normally with 30 and more players connected, with different hardware (from Pentium I to I7) and never i had complaints for FPS drops for your models. I think that only the direct experience it can confirm if an idea or a work is good or not. I’m not at your level but in my little experience in 3d i’m making some new 3d vehicles and i’m testing in TE and campaign without FPS or other problems.
