Multiplayer fps?

so that would prolly put me at a disadvantage if i have fps stutters from 20 down to 9 and up to 17-18-20 again?
Yep, Until I did my latest system build, I was averaging about 17FPS and would drop under 10 during MP. It was a pain in the A@@, wasn’t so bad during ingress and egress, but when the action got heavy with incoming flights or other wise, approaching OCA Strikes or CAS missions, I’d have a lot of issues. Sometimes it was doable and I could get through it, but other times it caused me to have issues.
Old system was a single core with 2GB RAM, WinXP and Nvidia 9500 with 1GB RAM. Now I have a Quad core, 4GB RAM, Win7 Professional and a Radeon HD 6950 with 1GB RAM and I get 70FPS all the time with VSync on.

Depends on how strict they are. My Squadron, no, we all understand people have different systems with different capabilities.
If you want the information for my Squadron, let me know and I’ll PM it to you.

I Speedtested to Houghton, MI and this is my result.

Test to Hays, Kansas was Ping 68, DL 51 Mbps, UL 4 Mbps.
It also depends on the type of Internet service you have, 1/3/10Mbps.

Very nice. No worries there.
Ping is kind of how long it takes a single ‘ping’ to travel.
Upload is how fast you can send data. This would effect how many you can host as a server. The rule-of-thumb is your Upload (1420) x 80% divided by 256 = number of players you can support; You could host about a 4-ship.
Download is how fast you receive data. Not much concern in Falcon unless it’s very, very low or unstable.

does hosting take power form my pc like recording cause recording uts quite a load on my pc and takes fps consistantly down

Not sure. I’ve always assumed it does. I used to fly with ~20 - 25 FPS, had a good internet connection (35 down / 5 up), but low PC specs. I could comfortably host a 4-ship (me plus 3), but was worried about hosting large flights. If the host crashes, it ruins every ones day.

Yes, your the host, so you’re having to take on the burden of having other connecting to you and you providing the resources, like I said above, all depends on your Internet connection speed too.
I’m by no means expert at this and I’m sure some others that are more versed in the subject may chime in.

and port forwarding has to be done wether your hosting or not? are there any risks to be aware of about port forwarding. i am very appreciative of all the reply’s
-
You have to have your ports forwarded to host. In some cases, if your’e the client, you don’t have to. Unless you are surfing the net on suspect sites, there’s really not much risk to open your ports for Falcon.
