Falcon BMS 4.32 Won't Launch
-
Hello all,
I just downloaded Falcon BMS 4.32 with all six updates. Initially, it worked fine but after a couple of hours it wouldn’t start anymore–it seemed to freeze. I’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling it but it didn’t work. Also, while it was working,my Thrustmaster HOTA Warthog controllers failed to work properly. Any idea what the problem may be.
Thanks so much.

The intro video is an old codec. Does it still not run if you disable intro?

Hi, Frederf, thanks for your reply. I don’t know. I can’t get that far into the sim to disable it.

You don’t need to run the sim …. run the BMS menu launcher, then choose “Configuration”. Expand “General Settings” and disable (uncheck) the “Play Intro Movie” box. Then “Apply Changes”.

Thanks, I tried it but no joy.

Go into X:\Falcon BMS 4.32\User\Acmi folder and delete the two .vhs files and try.
Also, Post your system specs, and whether it’s a laptop or desktop.

The last install I did was to install the file with Update 7–the compiled edition

Did you delete those .vhs files in your X:\Falcon BMS 4.32\User\Acmi folder and try to launch??
If you did and that didn’t work, go into your X:\Falcon BMS 4.32\User\Config folder and delete the dx9display.dsp file and try. This file will regenerate when you launch BMS.

Okay, I tried deleting the .vhs files–no joy. Then I tried going to the folder you suggested and there was no dx9display.dsp file there. Could that be part of the problem?
Thaqnks again for your help.

Hmm, it should be there. It should generate each time you launch BMS. This may be a resolution issue, or an issue with the dual GFX cards, not sure at the moment.
Here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/2old47cwrrmsu5k/dx9display.dsp
Place it in your x:\Falcon BMS 4.32\User\Config folder
Then try to launch again.

Also, are you getting any crash log(BMS crash), or does it simply say BMS has stopped working(Windows Error) when you try to launch??

Cloud 9,
I tried what you suggested with no luck. No joy with deleting the .vhs files, either. I’m at my wits’ end. -
Well, this is odd; I just saw your last post, went to download it and discovered there was no config folder. That’s puzzling. Should I try installing one update at a time?
-
Might be time to start over, with a fresh install.
Update 7 is current version.
Check in “Arty’s hot list” and you will find a link to base install plus updates 1-7. -
Well, the latest is that I uninstalled the program and re-installed it with each update separably. It worked once, crashed and refused to open.
-
No config folder under C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\User is a major malfunction.
As far as a re-install, I’d recommend the ‘consolidated’ installer … here: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?15666-Falcon-BMS-4-32-Full-Installer-(Base-plus-U1-U6)
Plus update 7, here: https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?16681-Falcon-BMS-4-32-Update-7
There may be one with all 7 updates together, but I’m not sure about that.
Edit:
… read, then post.

In which case, have you disabled the start-up movie and tried deleting the .dsp indicated earlier? Do you have a config file this time?
-
Thanks, guys, for all your help. Okay, I’ve deleted the .vhs files and the .dsp file. Yes, the config folder is back. I found a version with all seven updates and tried it with the same results. I deleted the existing dsp file and downloaded a new one.

Are you using the most updated driver for your GPU’s??
