Update 2
-
Hi, does anyone know if the Mavericks being slow and being able to get flown past got fixed in the Update 2 release ??
I would love for that to get fixed.
-
why not try it out?
i mean i could do it for you but you could do it yourself as well…
-
LOL, I haven’t gotten the update yet silly.
-
-
…that’s not something that needs a fix - that’s how it actually is in RL.
-
mavericks are pretty slow
they’re more a rocket-assisted glide weapon than a missile
unless they’re flying sub-200kn i doubt there’s a problem. i think even after motor exhaustion they’re still only at ~700 kn and after that they cruise at ~350-500?
-
Slower than that, I think…only platform I’ve ever dealt with that couldn’t out-fly one was a Harrier…and that may only have been a matter of pilot experience.
-
Interesting.
-
For sure this is not a bug.
MAVs produce a lot of drag and they have quite heavy warheads.
They are meant to be anti tank (and sometimes also anti bunker, depending on warhead) weapons and they don’t need to be fast.
All versions but E2 (Laser Maverick) are fire and forget so if you leave them behind its not a problem for you.If you want MAV to overtake you switch to A-10
However MAVs in DCS appears to be quite fast and able to take down SU-25T or another A-10C without problems which is unrealistic for sure. -
mavericks in dcs were the best SRM in the game actually
maneuverable like an A-9X and immune to flares (unlike everything else, lol what’s IRCCM?)
-
…wish we had LMAVs in BMS…and mules…then we could fire and forget.
-
We had LMAV in DCS. It was feature that leaked from military version.
Wagmatt shitted hes pants when he realised that we was able to use them.
I was able to fire LMAV on human JTAC designated targets, it was quite nice.Anyway, it was completely removed from code in one of DCS World updates.

They was perfect against helos, there was preatty much no way for helo to evade them. They had much bigger range against helos than 9M.
Flares and active IRCM was useless. -
LMavs would be nice, not to mention having guys to lase them. I wonder what BMS is gonna do about the SEAD aspect of SAM and AAA radars ?? I’d love to just be able to supress them and not always kill them.
-
LMav are in BMS, but not for F-16.
-
When i use editor i don’t see them. I was trying to find them because they are in manual but no success. I still sticking to U1.
In editor i see only A,B,D and G.
Did they came in U2?
Can you give index or CT index?I can’t wait to fire one! And AFAIK F-16s can carry them IRL. I seen photos of F-16 firing LMAV but not sure if this was in combat or maybe during some tests or whatever.

Would be nice. Using HARM in POS mode would start to make a lot of sense.
And AAA radars are not a problem, at least in real life, as long as you have jammer you can jam them with noise.
AAA radars without range data (when jammed with noise) are useless. -
Thats the mode I always use the HARM/Shrike in never use HAD, too simple for me
-
Indeed no Lmav, I was sure about it, my bad.
But no, no AGM-65E on USAF F-16. Not sure for greek one but I doubt. -
Now that we can buddy lase in BMS it would be something way cool to have in our bag of tricks…I’m not sure if the USAF ever actually used AGM-65E in RL, but if BMS is going to have USN/USMC jets in the mix I know that they use them…so…pleeeeease?

That would be cool though, it would make CAS missions more or less realistic because of precision and to allow the airborne FAC guide the weapon itself but leaving it to the pilot to fire the warhead would be some cool stuff.
