Would the CH Fighterstick and pro throttle be a good upgrade over the saitek x52?
-
saitek is hands down the most annoying of the bunch. CH software sounds solid, but i like the feel and action of the thrustmaster WH…just wish i didnt have to deal with T.A.R.G.E.T.

I’m having the same issue with my X52. The stick itself is decent enough but the software gives me headaches…
……
I would agree …. until I discovered the bliss that is DX programming direct to BMS. ZERO ‘software’ problems since then and very, very good HOTAS functionality. I recommend to anyone using an X52/52 Pro to drop the MadCatz/Saitek programming and change to DX.
If you follow Kolbe’s instructions (here: C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\User\Joystick\Generic\Kolbe\BMS-DX-Generator 1_6.xls ) it really is easier than it first looks … much easier.

the DX did help a lot. i still had problems, but narrowed down to possible system issues with those. (getting ready to pass that x52 on to a new pilot in need, btw)

I would still have my CH if it was built like the cougar or warthog. Although the plastic is strong, I didn’t like the tactical feel of the buttons. I loved CH manager, it’s the best programming software I believe. I love the feel of my cougar and warthog, not a big fan of TARGET so far. I really hate that I couldn’t get the CH guts into a cougar or warthog.

I personally would like to switch to the Cougar for immersion purposes. The only thing holding me back is the price, I cannot justify to pay €350+ for a relative small upgrade.
I use DX mappings, and the only reason I bring up the Saitek control panel is that is the only way I can use the shifted function. I keep it off of one of my screens, and the DX does all the mappings.

I love the clickyness and immediate feel of the CH buttons.
The Cougar trigger felt like Sponge Bob.Rotaries are the best part of the Cougar.
The speed brake was a cow to use.
Hats were very nice though.
The pinky and levers were good. The trigger though I didn’t like at all.
The CH has buttons that give a nice click when pressed.
The Thrusty t16000m is a great stick but the buttons are very poor.

Speedbrake is pretty easy to fix, you open up the throttle and rotate the speedbrake switch to line up with the outside guide for it a bit better… makes a world of difference.

My hat 3 is broken and the rotairies have bitten the dust so my Cougar is a Cougar now.
Old thing looking flash but not getting any.

Also have CH gear for more than 10 years now… never let me down…
The problem with “lost” programming is easily fixed by adding a profile activator EXE to the Windows startup folder.
It will change from DX mode to mapped automatically so you don’t need to open the programming software and do it manually every time you start your PC.
All in all, great value for the money.
I use it for BMS and DCS (A10, mustang, dora, sabre, F15).
If you don’t wanna spend the cash on a new WH, go for this CH without even blinking -

Fortunately the Cougar is a lot easier to get back in action. Most of the other kind of Cougars dont have a technical support department.

I have used the Warthog all I can say is that it’s amazing, I have to see how it holds up over time.
Same here. I got a Warthog a few month ago, pretty amazing. Software is not very user-friendly, but quite powerful.
