Can't Fire Weapns with either keyboard or Saitek X36F/X35T system
-
Good Day,
New to BMS, Falcon 4.O has been on the in the closet for years…… All loaded well, patched to the latest build… Looks outstanding. However some of my keyboard commands do not work and even though
my Saitek X36F Joystick is recognized by the program none of the buttons work… Program shows the correct button activated for “Fire” nothing happens when button is pressed during the simulation… Same for all buttons on the stick… the 4way hat switch works fine as does the throttle function of the X35T system… Stick has been calibrated and buttons all work Fine in FSX and worked fine with Falcon 4 and Falcon Allied Force…The / fire button on the keyboard also will not function… Funny thing is if AC put on combat AA it will fire missles on its own but once out of auto pilot no weapons keys or buttons work…
Any suggestions or help appreciated… Going to get my butt kicked quickly without access to weapons systems…
Thanks,
JayDub

make sure the master arm is on, and the button you want for missiles is the ‘pickle’ button. the ‘fire’ weapon is for the gun only.

Thanks……
Got guns to work and part of the time the AIM missle… Joystick will not hold mapped buttons… Half the keyboard keys do nothing, can’t control the MFDs or weapon selection… Yes have read the manual and keymap…
What a shame, a great piece of programing but looks like will not work for me… Great to fly around in but combat is impossible… Problem is all on my end I’m sure…
Thanks for the help… Lools like Falcon 4/BMS goes back to the closet…

You give up so easily?

It takes a little time to learning this sim. Take your time, and eventually it will fall into place.

you are better off mapping the joystick buttons through BMS rather than relying on dodgy saitek software to hold keyboard mappings to joystick buttons.

OK Guys…… The vote is in, You are right,
Too soon to give up … I Have been flying a variation of this sim since the Falcon 3.0/Mig 29 days in the early nineties… Still very few of the keys on the keyboard to anything associated with the BMS keyboard keymap or seem to do anything at all… Not using the Saitek sofeware, mapping through the BMS program… Frustrating issue is not getting most of the systems to work using the published BMS keyboard keymap or switches in the cockpit… Kinda flying blind here, but will hang in there for now… Had spent about 5 or 6 hours with the program before my first post asking for advise…
Thanks for the response…

That’s a strange problem. The first thing that resonates with me is that the stick works 4.0 in FSX and in the BMS options menu.
That tells me there is something going on with the game which for me points to the install. If you want a “scorched earth” sort of solution, I would say un-install and re-install. Good chance that doesn’t solve your problem but with my years of experience w/ BMS, I know that a lot of my weird problems with the game circle back to a sloppy install. …not that you were sloppy about it but the install of this game is very finicky and you have to follow every step precisely.
Hopefully someone else comes on here with some more professional/direct advice than I can offer.
Good luck

Good call on the key mapping. Blu3wolf is spot on about using the BMS features. I recommend first finding a good key map that you like (I prefer one that uses the 10-key for the ICP) then map all the ‘HOTAS-…’ features on the stick as close to how the actual F-16 stick was set up. Only go to your Saitek software for features that you need to have access to that is not offered by the HOTAS features. I would give you my .key file but I can’t figure out how to upload it. Maybe someone out there has a good one.

There are two default keymaps …. BMS.key and Keystrokes.key. Keystrokes.key seems to have a few more of the legacy Falcon4 callbacks.
In BMS go to SETIP–> CONTROLLERS and see which keyfile is loaded.
As far as commands not ‘sticking’ and/or not working in game that is more of a concern, but make sure you know which keyfile you’re using. Keymaps for the default keyfiles here: C:\Falcon BMS 4.32\Docs\Falcon BMS Manuals . It could be an install issue, it could be user error (no offense; just that most of us have gotten past BMS’s idiosyncrasies), or it could be stick related (not too many X35’s around I don’t think).

Thanks everyone……
Making some progress. Keymaps still a problem but will find a way to work thru it and list what works and what does’nt… A great Forum with outstanding participation…
Thanks again,
