Falcon MFD Software for android tablets
-
Dracfalcon:
1. Fire up server on pc.
2. Find app on phone and attempt to open - most apps highlight and open, this one fails to respond.
3. Then the screen may go black after rotating.
4. Then it comes back grayed out and unwinds with the message “Unfortunately Falcon MFD has stopped.”
5. I touch OK.I assume I am indeed missing something. I wanted to test it to see if it would bring up anything, it did not. I can’t tell it my pc’s IP address, can’t send the message to test from the server application, I’ve set the falcon config file value to 1, but my S III doesn’t want to respond to the apk. I just spent a couple hours looking through the manual for the thing, I told it to allow not app store files to install. I’m not sure where my issue lies. I tried to look at the video for the root issue, that seems to be a kies software updater. I’m not very phone/tablet savy, new to that aspect of things. When I click the downloaded file it brings up the screen “complete action using” and gives me a choice of: 1. (android) Package Installer, or 2.g* Verify and Install. Along with always and just once buttons. I choose the package installer and just once, then install, then done. I open the app and … it fails to work.
It looks great from the video on p.1, I just can’t get it working yet. I’m open to ideas and instructions, as long as they don’t include, “…turn on device and toss into salt water. Then go buy another device,” or something like that. I’ve threatened it with a magnet too, but that did nothing.

Im no expert here… but do have it working pretty well on my 10" android tablet. My understanding is, that it must be installed on a 10" tablet… that’s what the interface is designed for. A galaxy S III phone… (which I also have) may not work as the screen is too small?

-BabiteSounds like you were never able to get to the point of entering the Server IP address in the “Apk”. It may be a S III issue. As Donw43 has mentioned, it was originally designed for an Android Tablet. To make expectant use of this application, you will definitely want at least a 10.1 Android Tablet. With holiday sales going on now, there are fairly cheap tablets on sale…if you have the funds. By the way, the video is out dated. You will be amazed how it looks and operates now.

Dracfalcon - You are correct as I can’t get that far. I see the steps to get there but just can’t open it on the device. Rats. It looks like fun - I’ll keep trying to get it to behave.

If I can find the time today. . I will attempt to load it on my S3, and come back to report definitely if its possible.
Edit… OK… I can confidently confirm… at least on my S3… the APP won’t open at all.
You’re going to need to pick up a 10" tablet bud… which you will certainly find very enjoyable. I grabbed one on Amazon… not that long ago for about $80.00. Just make sure it comes with any Android 4.X.X operating system -
One more thing… there is a Galaxy S3 app you might like… for the ICP and DED. . I used it for a while and it worked great https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?18771-Android-Falcon-ICP-DED&highlight=Android+icp

Great software, well done!!
Only issue I 've noticed is that if I do alt+tab to switch out of BMS, when I return everything works fine except the MFDs not being updated any more. The only solution I have come up is to exit BMS and start over. Any ideas?
Thanks anyway for the great tool -
Did you try closing the Apk (only) and restarting?

Thanks anyway for the great tooli also have same issue
it is related with Falcon BMS memory.
Both program can not read same adress of memoryso as result i can not do anything for that problem
-
I also suspected memory issue, probably due to minimize of BMS.

Have you tried my recommendation? Also, what version of the Apk are you using?
I am using apk version 1.7.1, and what I have tried among many, is closing the application on android and re-opening without success. Everything else works except MFD data.
You faced the same issue and managed to work? -

You faced the same issue and managed to work?I use the Multi-tablet version but have helped others. We have found version 1.7.0 works better. By chance, have you tried that version?

Tested with 1.7.0 also but issue remains, guess it has to do with FalconMFDServer and shared memory.
Additional question, how do you make the briefing screen to operate, always black for me. -
how do you make the briefing screen to operate, always black for me.
Take a screenshot using your keyboard “PrintSysRq” button of any BMS screen. For instance… open the briefing tab… take a screenshot. Then on the tablet… open the briefing screen… and tap the Print screen button. The print screen action within BMS saves a .jpg file of whatever screen you have open in your C:/Falcon BMS 4.32/User/Pictures folder. The tablet Print Screen button will load those pictures in sequence each time you press the button, up to 5 pictures. Make sure you change to 2/5, 3/5, etc, etc to load each one. You will need to keep that folder clean between missions… to correctly load your desired pictures for each mission

Followup. Just tested the software on a used LG LGL39C and except for the lack of an IP address the software seemed to work. It came up fine on that device but with lack of service comes lack of device ip address. When I tried to back out it kept giving me error messages about something not being a constant in com.arifkomurculer.falconmfd.MainAcivity$MessagesName, and gave the close button for the message beneath that. That was the 1.7.1 version, the 1.7.0 wouldn’t allow me to see the save button. komurcu - do you want any more information from me or would you prefer I go radio silent?
