Falcon BMS 4,32 Crash to desktop at startup

Have you tried reinstalling to vanilla everything? Do you have any unusual input devices?

Yes, I have a vanilla install. I am wondering if the crash (when closing) accrued when I removed the two default keyfiles. I noticed when I put them back in, the sim did not crash upon closing. Does that make any sense?
-
No it doesn’t. Hard to understand why those files would be needed, if you don’t use them. And especially at closing. (Must be some default value that gets re-initialised or closed or something)
Sounds like the classic: “Doctor, doctor, it hurts when I do this!” Doctor:“The don’t do it.”

Nonsense. Defensive programming is a waste of time and effort. Fail early, so to speak.

@G:
I had a problem that in full screen mode the game would launch then minimize and not allow me in. I could enable Cockpit displays to external windows and the game would launch and work. This is repeatable.
I disabled Samsung Magician (an app for my SSD) and everything works. For whatever reason Samsung Magician conflicted with Falcon full screen. Look to disabling all apps that you can if you haven’t already. It could be something this odd.
I can confirm this to be a problem as well. I updated to the latest Samsung Magician today and I’m seeing the exact same issue. So whatever they changed from the last version fubared falcon.

I had same problem as autor of this thread. This is how i solved it: 1. Disable samsung magician 2. delete dx9display in user\config. After that you`ll have to manualy reset your graphic settings but it should work just fine.
Best regards

Almost the same here.
Updated video drivers, killed magician, deleted particlesys.ini (the dx9 file is not on my system), done.

Will give it a shot today. But I dont use Samsung Magician and have tried deleting the dx9 file and still had no luck.

Hi all.
I’ve got the same problem.
But: BMS 4.32 v6 was working well in full screen mode. But after 3 months, it stops working: I couldn’t start Falcon anymore.
The following happens:After starting the Launcher, pushing on “Launch”, I will get a black screen and then it goes back to the desktop. Falcon seems to be minimized in the tray, but if I will open it again, the same thing with the black screen happens.
I already tried a lot:
- reinstall
- reinstall graphic card
- no movie
- turn off triple buffering of the graphic card (but in AMD Catalyst Center I can do it only for OpenGL)
- I got no SAMSUNG Magician installed
- renamed particlesys.ini
The only thing which helps is to run Falcon in window mode. But this cannot be the solution…
It would be great, if anyone can help me.
My system:

Hi all.
After experimenting with different software for graphic cards to turn off triple buffering in D3D, I used the suggested workaround:
-
Running Falcon in Window mode
-
Display extraction set as showed in the picture below
-
Hide windows task bar
Now it works…
Kind regards,

Really have to give thanks for this one. Added some more SSD’s over Christmas and decided to do a complete re-install of all my Flight Sims to the new SSD.
Could not get it to run in full screen no matter what I did.
Tried 3 different re-installs.
Restored from a backup to the original location and it did the same thing. Would run fine with -window command. Didn’t crash, just sits on the taskbar but goes right back to the desktop if you clicked on it.Shutdown Samsung Magician after finding this post and BAM, works like a charm now.

HamschterThank you! That made it so I could play again!
update: It’s a few days later and I found why it worked one day and then the next day I had to add -window to the shortcut. I have a ASUS motherboard so the ASUS Suite MINI BAR was interfering with the program. Once I turned it off Falcon BMS was able to go full screen again once I took out -window. Yay.
update2: Day 2 of removing the Asus suite mini bar and now Falcon BMS crashes out again. It’s like there’s a program that’s alive in my computer that’s refusing to let this program work properly. Need to add -window again.
update3: Turned off Adobe Creative Cloud updater and took -window out. That seemed to fix the problem.

I’m having same or similar problem in that the program loads fine but when I launch instant action or dogfight, the program goes black, small and goes to my desktop. I’m using Windows 8.1. New machine, asus x99a motherboard and intel 5820 A processer. What do I need to do to fix this problem pls?
