Aegean theater v1.3
-
Hmmm okay. I just want to see them match up to ARMA 3 so I can make better use of the Aegean theater for ‘other things’.
-
About 60% done (Cities and AB tiles WIP). We can add some islands, no problem.
great - add some islands !!!
keep it up

Hi guys.
Well a new installer created in order to eliminated the possibility with false alarm by some anti-virus (like Avira).
So you can download again the installer from the first post, all 4 links are updated!
The new installer has size of 653 MB, instead with the previous one that had 660 MB.
Nikos. -
Thanks! I will download again

Hoover is indeed very happy! Thanks!!!
Uwe
PS: So the fix is in 1.3 (new installer) although the version number is the same or will this be included in a later update?

Hi folks,
here’s a small TE I created just to practise ramp starts, takeoffs and landings. It will contain a fair bit of air traffic, awacs is available and if you head out east you might even encounter a bogey or two.
Hellenic f-16s are available both from Souda and Kasteli. I usually create a new “training” package from Souda when flying this TE.
Naturally it doesn’t have victory conditions, but a few pre-defined training flights that you can select if you want to, also I’ve defined realistic weather as per Tom’s recommendations.
Cheers, Uwe

Thx Nikos, we are very lucky to have a guy like yourself :bowd:

No, the correction of the add of the island will be in the next updated version, possible the v1.4. This new installer only fixed the issue of a false alarm with some anti-virus.
I’m in close with my friend and partner Arek “Eghi” and we together work hard for the next update. Also some good friends will give us a hand.
So stay tuned mate.here’s a small TE I created just to practise ramp starts, takeoffs and landings. It will contain a fair bit of air traffic, awacs is available and if you head out east you might even encounter a bogey or two.

Uwe my friend, this is very nice, Thank you.
So please feel free and create a subthread into the main Aegean theater thread with title “Aegean theater created T.E.s” and place there your nice created T.E. missions as also any other guy in order to we all can have access to them.
Thank you.Thx Nikos, we are very lucky to have a guy like yourself :bowd:
Thank you for your kindly words mate, i really hope to enjoy the new Aegean theater v1.3 with your friends ;).
Stay close Aegean theater fans, more good work is on the way…

I think I found a small bug with Souda airport on Crete: Whenever I’m set to take off from RW 11, ATC drops the “one one” bit from the message. It’s visible in the text chat, but not audible. Weirdly enough, when I land on RW 11, the “one one” is announced just fine, it’s only during taxi / take off that this message is missing.
RW 29 works just fine during take off and landing.
All the best & keep up the good work!

Thank you very much my friend Uwe for the heads up ;)!
We will take a look and maybe to can correct it.

Amazing work Neystratiou!!!
I have a question, I have already installed Aegean Wars, is it compatible with both installations?
If not, are the campaigns compatible?, I mean a campaign on Aegean Wars can run in Aegean 1.3?
Thanks in advance.

Hi there my friend.
Thank you for your kindly words.
Now about the campaign of Aegean Wars, unfortunately it can’t run normal and be conformal with the Aegean v1.3. A lot of changes here…
If the creator of the campaign wants to make it conformal with the Aegean v1.3, then he is welcomed to do this and if he needs any clarifications we will provide him ;).
He is free to contact me or Arek “Eghi”.

Is there any reason why most of the airports don’t have ILS? ILS seems to be present in the IKAROS theater for most airports, but in Aegean on Crete for instance, not a single airbase has ILS data in the navaids PDF, not even Iraklion International.
All the best, Uwe

Hi there my friend Uwe.
Well in order to have a very clear idea for the NavAids of Aegean theater v1.3:
ALL the data for NavAids (means TACAN channels and ranges, ILS Loc freq. and at which RWY, ATC UHF/VHF) of this theater are just perfect and exactly as in real world!
Only a few variations due to Falcon code limitations!
And for your exact question, non of the cretan airports has an ILS.
And please don’t compare the 2 theaters, because some guys may think that there is a race between the 2 teams, that is not truth for sure. Thank you for your understanding.

Thanks Nikos,
I understand perfectly. I would always choose realism over the convenience of having ILS available. I only noted this today when I tried to find my way around practising ILS approaches, so I’ll do that using Hellenikon airport from now on.
Thanks!
Uwe

Well, you can practise in ILS approaches at these airports:
- Pafos Intl in Cyprus.
- Nea Anchialos and Tanagra in Greece.
- Cardak and Konya in Turkey.
that have a published procedure. Just check the “Aegean MAIP.pdf” file into the folder …\Falcon BMS 4.32\Data\Add-On Aegean\Docs\Navigation stuff.
Don’t forget to check pages 4-10 of the same file, a lot of useful stuff there as also very detailed diagrams of the parking spots in the aprons for airports.
See you.

Thanks Nikos, I checked Pafos and found it only has ILS data for the 29 approach direction. What am I supposed to do if ATC directs me to land on RW 11? I guess I could influence that by setting up the TE using certain wind conditions, right?
Cheers, Uwe

Another small issue I’ve found on Crete:
- Iraklion Airport seems too far inland in Aegean 1.3, according to google maps (and in my own personal experience ;)), it’s situated much closer to the water:

Well, for this situation you have only 2 ways:
- Ignore the ATC and land your plane according to the chart but with special caution to ATC for inbound/outbound traffic.
- Set the proper wind to force the ATC for landing clearance to the specific RWY you want to land by the chart.

Yes Uwe my friend, i know this variation as also in some other airports.
You see it needed a huge amount of working time in order to make everything as in real world!
So you must compromise and set priorities of what are you going to correct/work on ;). I can easily move the airport to a near position as in real world, but then you can’t imagine how mane things should be change also, like some navigation charts that will need a lot of time to be recreated.
So ask yourself, do you actually can have a so great benefit of the move a little the airport? And how many working times are you gonna spend for that matter? Is it worth it or maybe to spend your time in some more important things?
What you think that is more important: Some eye candy things or functionality without issues? To move Iraklion airport a little or to correct the type of an other one airport that is completely wrong (example of Akhisar airport that now has RWY 16/34 L/R but in the next version will has the real RWY 14/32 L/R)?
But thank you for your interest as also for the heads up.
See you buddy.
Nikos.
