Sorry, another SA-10 thread
-
Kill everything around it and let the US Army deal with it.
Or hope your mind has a nightmare about it tonight, if it does you will kill that SA-10 next time, dreams fix the mind and solve difficult problems without you really been aware of what occurred.

I believe BFB are using Sa10s and Kirovs to produce a “no go” Zone to force all PvP participants to engage each other in a very restrictive manner along a predestine front.
And in fact many players I have noticed over the last year often prey upon any one trying to engage in a ground strike. Reinforcing the trend towards air action only.
If this is what you enjoy fair enough -
furthering the trend towards off topic, surely the response rather than dedicating ones force to A-A only, one would be better off tasking packages that can strike whilst engaging nearby enemies with different elements?
-
What a brilliant idea,
-
actually its pretty elementary…

Fly low level, shoot your Shrikes behind terrain in POS mode. Or pop-up very briefly and fire in HAS mode.
FYI, in case any of you wants to simulate properly SEAD missions with the AGM-45: The Shrike in real life requires a pop up of about 10-20 degrees within 3 degrees azimuth of the radar antena. Otherwise it will not be able to guide correctly and will go ballistic. Besides, the Flap Lid A (5N63) operates in the X-band (~8-12GHz). The AGM-45 came with different sensor heads, up to about 10GHz (high I-band). In other words, in RL the Shrike will not engage a Flap Lid succesfully, since the tracking radar operator just needs to go to a higher frequency. The chances get even smaller if you taken into account that more modern Flap Lids (I think rom the C version on, not sure) are able to do frequency hopping and Shrike cannot follow it (too old for that).
Summing up, if you want to simulate the employment of the Shrike more or less correctly in Falcon 4 BMS with all its constraints, then I would suggest the following:- Make a mental note on which sensor head your AGM-45 are carrying and only employ them against radars operating at the correct frequency bands. It is a hardwared property of a specific missile and cannot be changed in the flight.
- Use correct RL employment maneuvers (see above about pop up).
- Do not use HTS or HAS, since these are HARM related modes/pods. The AGM-45 had similar PB/RUK, but no EOM sub-variant.
Of course, just in case you guys want to make it real (within the constraints of Falcon).
Cheers

If this is what you enjoy fair enoughwell thats normal isnt it? I dont know what you’d expect tbh. if you are going unescorted, you better be sure to pick a ‘safe’ target and get in and out quickly…
OT: AGM-88’s are removed from FO theatres because they are simply too easy to use; they have huge range, never miss and would render the SAM threat non existant in a PvP campaign. You can still fire a Shrike from 35k feet and 35 miles (outside the DLZ in principle) and they will hit their target. be wary though that if you get any closer, you will get shot down, and after shooting i’d advise diving for the deck.

Yeh a lot of blah, At least I tried to answer the original poster and not engage in nit picking.

The idea behind the weak HARM weapons and strong SAM’s is to make SEAD relatively challenging again and to ensure that there is a bit more airspace denied to each side than if it were otherwise. For what its worth though, the kirovs go down pretty early in the war, aswell as any SA-10’s or Patriots close to the FLOT because these tend to be challenging missions people enjoy flying and to allow your escorts to protect you more effectively while you do your AG work - eitherway its better than flying at 30K feet with 88’s and simply pressing a couple of buttons (though thats still relatively reliable even with AGM-45’s).
I just found it funny that you would expect to be able to do AG missions with impunity and that you complain that the other side doesn’t want you to destroy their ground units or infrastructure etc…

Playing exclusively single player and letting the AI run the war may be part of my problem…

Are you & Wolf Trolling, did you even read the original post, where did I make any statement that I expect to be able to do AG with impunity. My comments are to the original poster who seems to be trying to engage Sa-10s on his own. You seem to be more interested in blowing your own trumpet. edit: ( or stating the obvious )

Shad, you know that kind of commentary is against the rules… so why do it?

:munch: Its a dark road & will continue to be lonely.
PS: Good luck Blunder, as a single-player campaign it need some revision. Find someone near you to fly with.

Don’t know where it goes, but it’s home to me, and I walk alone.

Congratulations, Captain.

How many simultaneous targets can the SA-10 fire on in BMS?

One
PS: Was that a trick Question? How many missiles can it support ? And can that be changed?

I replied to the post by stating what the intentions of said weapons limitations are, that the long range SAM’s do infact take alot of punishment -atleast in FoF events at FO, and that he can still fire 45’s from 35k/35nm and take these sites down. i think that covers the questions brought up in the original post. I also sought to clarify this in relation to the FO campaigns, which you seemed to have misunderstood.
Anyway, i didnt mean any offence by it. sorry if it caused some.
