Sorry, another SA-10 thread
-
Playing exclusively single player and letting the AI run the war may be part of my problem…
-
The idea behind the weak HARM weapons and strong SAM’s is to make SEAD relatively challenging again and to ensure that there is a bit more airspace denied to each side than if it were otherwise. For what its worth though, the kirovs go down pretty early in the war, aswell as any SA-10’s or Patriots close to the FLOT because these tend to be challenging missions people enjoy flying and to allow your escorts to protect you more effectively while you do your AG work - eitherway its better than flying at 30K feet with 88’s and simply pressing a couple of buttons (though thats still relatively reliable even with AGM-45’s).
I just found it funny that you would expect to be able to do AG missions with impunity and that you complain that the other side doesn’t want you to destroy their ground units or infrastructure etc…
Are you & Wolf Trolling, did you even read the original post, where did I make any statement that I expect to be able to do AG with impunity. My comments are to the original poster who seems to be trying to engage Sa-10s on his own. You seem to be more interested in blowing your own trumpet. edit: ( or stating the obvious )

Shad, you know that kind of commentary is against the rules… so why do it?

:munch: Its a dark road & will continue to be lonely.
PS: Good luck Blunder, as a single-player campaign it need some revision. Find someone near you to fly with.

Don’t know where it goes, but it’s home to me, and I walk alone.

Congratulations, Captain.

How many simultaneous targets can the SA-10 fire on in BMS?

One
PS: Was that a trick Question? How many missiles can it support ? And can that be changed?

This post is deleted! -
I replied to the post by stating what the intentions of said weapons limitations are, that the long range SAM’s do infact take alot of punishment -atleast in FoF events at FO, and that he can still fire 45’s from 35k/35nm and take these sites down. i think that covers the questions brought up in the original post. I also sought to clarify this in relation to the FO campaigns, which you seemed to have misunderstood.
Anyway, i didnt mean any offence by it. sorry if it caused some.

Hey Gear!
Just one, but that can be improved by tweaking the Flap Lid specs on your install.
BTW, nice avatar!;-)

Concerning SAM, multi-target is not possible in BMS. Multiple missile support is possible (and does exist in the current version), but to be used with extreme caution as it might runs the SAMs empty quite quickly with no real added value in many cases.

???
How? I tried with many trick but simultaneous eng. capability cannot be done with current code and DB whatever you try…

I agree. This is the result of very bad ECM and chaff resistance of old SAMs where is pointless to allow multiple missiles against a single target because in case of lock break all lost. In RL SA-2 crew had to lauch 3 missiles on a single target, this was a very, very strict rule.

I’m just thinking tactics… come at him from a couple of different directions so only one aircraft can feasibly be engaged. Of course it’s hard to know if you’re the one who has been fired on. If the directions are sufficiently far apart even if a missile in flight can be re-targeted it won’t be able to be diverted far enough.

Thanks for the clarification, we did some playing around yesterday and the other question is how does the SA-10 sort out which target to engage ? By distance ?
If so will it focus on the same target until it kills it or it will repeat the sort out everytime it can shoot ?
thanks

Can you really get as close as 35nm to an SA10 at 35k and not get shot down?

If it shoots one target at a time yes if the launcher is busy enough acquiring other targets
