PAPI problems. I can not see the PAPI in any airbase. Installation on a formated PC
-
I think for the lights look in Configuration under Hardware, ensure shader rendering is selected. Then expand the lighting options and select the Per Vertex as this is more FPS friendly than Per Pixel. Turn off other shader stuff to save FPS but I think to see lights you need the lighting activated.
Can’t help with the keyboard question. I use a custom .Key file. Should be comm mike left I think.
Good luck

Hi Sarge55, first of all, thank you for answering so fast. I am very bad with PC, and it is hard to understand it. I will try to follow your instructions, hoping that i will be able to find “Lighting Options” and “PER VERTEX”. I will try to do it, and will tell you the results.
About activate the mode ASIG or CONT or DMD, using CTRL + o, i wonder why this can happen to me, since i got a clean installation on a brand new formated pc windows7.
THANKS from spain.
-
You have to hold CTRL + o for at least one second to make it work.
Cheers,

Hi Lazystone, holding CTRL + o is the way i did and do. That’s why makes me mad.
THANK YOU

Sarge55, you’re an expert. PAPI is now visible, BUT the FPS has fallen from 35 - 45 to 27. Amazing. How can?
I don`t dont how to eliminate all no necesary sets, because i already did it, i setup following advisers and it ran fine, but now, 27 FPS.
For sure it is my Graphic Card, 1 Gb but ATI HD 6450, and probably it is not good enough.Regards
-
Hardly an expert, glad you got it going.
Although having a good video card is helpful, you do need to have a fairly good system overall to play a sim with smooth flight. Check the recommended system requirements https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/content.php?132 to see how your system stacks up. I’m not that familiar with ATI cards but I think that one should be OK, not great but OK. It could be your CPU or RAM, etc…
Also having a high FPS is not that important, if you get smooth flight without stutters etc with 30-40 FPS that is good. It’s the smooth flight that counts not having 100+ FPS.

Sarge55, my pc system requirements are in my first thread of this page, when i say the PAPI’s Problem, you can read them. I don’t think it is a bad one. Now, i try and try to active the mode CONT in the radar by pressing CTRL + o and nothing happend.
What a bad luck i have, probably the worst luck in this foro. What do you think???
regards. How the the temperatura there, in Canada by now??? Here, 15º Centigrades in the morning. Not so could now, end of Winter.

Hold down the CTRL button first, then hold down the O button for a couple seconds until you hear it beep.

What C9 said above. You have to hold for longer than 1 sec.
Still pretty cold in most of Canada but I live in “Gods Country”, Vancouver, British Columbia. We have recent temps around 21C, flowers are out, had to cut the damn grass…

Hi Cloud 9, i hold down the CTRL button first, and then, i press the button o, and nothing happen. No beep, nothing at all, only, i can read on the left up corner of the screen, my log name. Upset. That`s why i ask you for help.
I´ll keep trying new buttons or well , i don’t know what to press more.
THANK YOU CLOUD 9

Well, the controls you have set are all listed in the setup menu…
You want Comm left or comm outboard, or possibly IFF left. Whatever the keyboard command for that is.
-
Hi Blue3wolf, as you say, the controls are set in the setup, and when i press Ctrl + o it shows the right command. But, when flying, i press Ctrl + o, nothing happend.
I don’t understand what you mean with Comm left or cmm outboard, or possibly IFF left. Can you speak easier for a person who is not good with coputers.

SimCommsSwitchLeft -1 0 0XD3 0 0 0 1 “TQS: COMMS Switch Left - IFF OUT”
the HOTAS command to put the IDM in CONT mode is holding the COMM switch outboard - or left. So, the command you want is called Comm Left, or IFF OUT.
Whatever keyboard combination is assigned to that command, is the one you want to press while flying.
-
Blu3wolf,Thanks for the explanation. I will try to find out a solution, because without such mode in the radar, it will be very difficult to make easier the control of the radar and impossible to identify targets, friends or enemies.

well, the IDM makes identification easier, and allows DL formations. IFF existed before DL did though

Yet BMS hasn’t implemented IFF and may not, but the keyboard key (For me) was found under the IFF command (out I think) and it takes a moment to have success. Much like you have to hold down the pickle button for 2 seconds or so to release the -120 from its launcher. To get it to work correctly you need to be in the correct mode first, second you need to have the correct flight address set in the DED, and third you need to hear a beep/squelch sound. Refer to the BMS Manual starting on page 108 for how the 3 modes work. I assume you have already but just to be safe…

HI Babite. I am getting mad. I am trying and trying and so and so. The last thing i thought was that may be, involuntarely, i chose the wrong command in the keyboard. Please, tell me if, when you press CTRL + o you can see that the command assigned for that is SIM ONLINE MODE. It is what i read in the setup keyboard control.
My hope is to ear that it is not correct that assignation. If so, let me know how it is set in your control keyboard.SANANDRES

-BabiteIts the IFF command because the same 4 way switch on the throttle is used to control IFF interrogations, LINK16 decluttering, IDM and the radios… whereas in BMS I think its just the radios and the IDM.
IFF switch = comms switch

referencing a keypress is not going to achieve much. Its gonna come down to what key is actually set to what command, rather than what buttons you pressed to get there.
If pressing Ctrl + O in the Setup menu displays SIM ONLINE MODE, then the buttons you are pressing (Ctrl + O) are not the controls for setting the IDM.

Do us all a favor and while you’re in the setup menu on the right side middle height of the screen does it say your keyfile is BMS, Keystrokes or something else? It should be in green.
Both keyfiles there work, but they aren’t all inclusive AND they don’t really overlap, or stuff in one file except for a few exceptions won’t be found in the other.
I have noticed in the past that when I jump around on screens and go to the control setup page OCCASIONALLY it shows my first command would have the shift key depressed.
Sim Online Mode isn’t familiar to me, but I don’t fly online (internet issues on my end) so that may be why.
You may not like my remaining answer here as it’s going to involve more leg work for you.
I changed my keyfile anyway so IN THAT SENCE I’d be of no help to you. I went from IFF OUT on [Ctrl]+[O] to [7] or [8] on the number pad.
I think you will find it helpful to look through for the Keyfile pages included in your BMS folder. MOST PEOPLE using Windows would find it in C:/Falcon BMS 4.32/User/Joystick/Generic/Kolbe. Click the .pdf if you want to see the background stuff at work and how to alter your keyfile OUTSIDE of the BMS interface, or click the folder BMS Keystroke Files. There are 6 sets showing in my folder.
Your easiest option is to change the binding in the setup menu from SIM ONLINE MODE to IFF OUT. I went a different way and moved it to the number pad. The downside to changing it is if someone tells me to hit [Ctrl]+[0] for IFF out now it DOESN’T WORK for that in my setup and I must remember where I put that command.
I hope you find this helpful.

Open your keyfile in Notepad or some other text editor (it’s in your User->Config folder with a .key file type).
Search for a line like: SimCommsSwitchLeft 31 8 -2 0 0x0 0 –- post it here in reply … mine is set to DirectX joystick button 32 (it starts with 0= button 1)
We might be able to "decode it if we see it
