X55

Yeah, you’re going to need the H.U.D. software I think - I’ve also encountered some crashes, specifcally when compiling/uploading or testing profiles while an application like BMS is polling the joystick. I’ve uninstalled/reinstalled some drivers and it seems to be ok right now (no more blue screens for a while).
The stick is not a dx button or axis - only H.U.D. can convert it into mouse or key presses afaik - which is very simple if you configure a band as in my profile here
Cheers
badI’ve looked at your profile, I can’t get it to work because I’m using a different Keyfile.

Hope by now the profile is more complete cause the link above at dropbox.com really made my day !!!I started working on a new profile but I almost went nuts….
Please send me also a profile at [email protected] Thx -
I’ve updated my example and the links in https://www.benchmarksims.org/forum/showthread.php?19304-x55&p=278290&viewfull=1#post278290 in case that helps, Cheers

Thanks for the profile. Much appreciated.

After almost a year of having the rhino, do you still use it as often/if at all? Any wear and tear issues? I’m looking for a good stick to buy

I am not having any problems at all…excellent HOTAS…one of the early users.

Work computer upgrade funding coming this fall, might have to ponder trading in the x65 for the x55 due to increased HOTAS functionality….

You sound very heartbroken

Hi i would say. You will learn more by mapping for yourself. I have just purchased the rhino and spent a week mappint. I have changed things so many times. I would look at the real f16 controlscand try to get them as close as pos. You have to find what feels rightbfor you.
Good luck

Thanks for the pic you just gave me an idea regarding radar cursor.

Correct…the x65 is all metal and force sensing, the x55 is all plastic with springs.

the only drawback I’ve found is the lack of a burner detent on the throttle, IMO.

Still works fine, had to lube it though which some folks frown upon (1 year old, Vaseline here, yes, know about plastic/oil-scare, lubed 6 months ago, still working great). So a keeper for me.
The original still valid gripes
- no thumb four-way on stick (CMS, on throttle instead)
- throttle thumb cursor not an axis, using key bindings instead, slightly rotated for my taste (up is N/E)
- throttle axis and rotaries are normal pots - slightly spiky by now
