Need a Cougar Profile for BMS 4.32
-
Take a look here https://www.sendspace.com/file/p7bhn3
It is Sparta_DX.Key for Hotas Cougar. Sparta_DX.keys contain 3 files to be used depending on your hardware controllers
1α) sparta_DX_NR_NT.key 2α) sparta_DX_NR_Τ 3α) sparta_DX_R_T
Choose best suitable for you -
I can recommend the Dunc_DX profile which should already be there in your config directory.
What specific problems are you having? You need to program the stick using Foxy and change your axis setup accordingly.
Cheers, Uwe

Thx for your answers. Actually I tried the Dunc_DX. After endless programming using Foxy, recalibrating and crosschecking by test flights, it seems the profile is working - finally.
Best wishes and thx again from the Rhineland -
Glad to hear you got it working. Make a backup of your working configuration…
If you have further problems feel free to contact me by PM, I see we share the same time zone…
Whenever my system boots up, the cursors on the cougar won’t work unless I start the HCCP, “retrieve values from device”, followed by “apply settings to device” and then check them in the viewer.
No biggie, it’s become a solid part of my boot-up checklist, so if this happens to you one day, you may perhaps remember this post.
Cheers, Uwe

Cheers, UweHmm, you know you can auto- load a profil on system start?
HCCP -> Startup & Calibration
… works fine for me.

Thanks LS, I’ve a profile set up for auto load but still the microstick won’t work after booting the machine the first time. As I’ve said I don’t need to load any other profile to fix this, I just click “retrieve” and then “apply” and the microstick works.
Very weird if you ask me, but then my Cougar has acted up in the past with needing a reflash and so on, so it’s probably a hardware / usb ordering issue.
Cheers,
Uwe

For about 12 months, my cougar refused to auto load a profile. Then I reflashed it again, and it started letting me do it.

Yep, I had to reflash my Cougar a couple of times too, but I’m anxious to break anything if this is the “only” problem I’m having with it ATM. I guess a new firmware isn’t on the horizon any time soon, right?

hi , I have Dunc_DX too but the cancel selection on the dogfighte or mrm override does not work. Once in dogfight using the cougar button it will not go back to NAV mode upon returning the button to normal position. In fact it stays on dogfight unless I press c on keyboard. Did anyone had this problem?

There’s a variable you need to set to 0 or 1 in the falcon config file. I’m not at my pc now but if you read the instructions that came with the keyfile you should find it.
-
This might be a silly question but is it really that hard to build you own profile, is it such a lost art ??
Especially for the cougar, you program it like a real stick. Look at the manual it has all the details.
Give a man a fish, he eats for a day: Give a man a arc welder he builds a trawler.
I think I might have got that wrong ?

yes, thank you for bringing it up. I read it in the read me file but unfortunately it didn’t help. This problem feels very familiar but I just can’t remember what I did the first time to resolve it.

I just downloaded Deejay’s and it worked just fine, must have been something with the DX file.

What type a welding we talking here? And what positions? Some people just need fish.
In all honesty I tried to mess with the flyfoxy app but man that needs a while before everything sinks in. For now DX little strings work for me.

You can program a Cougar to do the functions of the F-16 in BMS without every using Foxy. Set all your controls as directX controls, with the keyfile and a text editor. Most of the work is done for you already by Kolbe.
-
That’s what my last line tries to convey. Next time I’ll elaborate more:)
-
just an update, Deejay’s key file was crashing the game whenever I clicked setup. I deleted the key file and now no crashes.

Number 6 in the README.pdf:
- Open the Falcon BMS.cfg file which is located in your BMS User\Config folder with a text
editor. Find the setting: set g_bHotasDgftSelfCancel. It’s set to 0 by default, please set it to 1.

Actual electric arc welding, all positions. Never did much over 12mm, hard facing augers and embedded tungsten chip type of work. Never did a lot with oxy/acetylene except cut & braze but we were taught.
Yep these days I get my fish from the supermarket.
