Downloading Falcon BMS
-
I been out of the sim business since just after Falcon 4.0 was release. I recently bought a TM Warthog set up as my F-22 set up is no longer compatible with my OS
I can’t figured out how to download the installer for BMS. I assume you download a bit torrent client, which I did. But I can’t seem to find the bit torrent files to download. Any suggestions? Is there an alternative to bit torrent? Or can someone point me in the right direction?
Thanks!

Check the bottom of the first post for mirrors hosting the files. And don’t forget to also download and add U7 (thread is in the same forum).

I was able to find the installer update 1-5 at a french site as well as the updater 6 and 7. I installed the installer. It asked for the original F4 CD which I have. Then I launched the updater 6-7 and it said to put it in the original set up folder, which I did. Did that take care of the update? I don’t know…
Then I launched F4 BMW. I have a Win 7 64 bit system. It failed to launch. I tried compatibility mode as Win7 and it also did not work. Any ideas?
Am I suppose to install F4? I thought it only needed the CD.
Thanks!

You don’t (or shouldn’t) need compatibility mode running 64-bit Win7. You are correct, you only need the CD for Falcon4. It does not need to be installed.
Not sure why it won’t launch …. first thing to try is launching the menu, choose configuration and make sure the intro movie is off (not selected). Other than that, I don’t know.
When you do launch BMS, there is a version and build number in the lower right. It should confirm you have update 7 if everything installed correctly (BMS 4.32.7).

I unchecked compatibility mode. Then launched BMS. The screen came up where I could choose to change the config. Entered that. Pun checked play movie. Clicked launched. Windows then again gives me the message that BMS has stopped working and it is trying to find a solution.
Any ideas? I have direct x version 9c. Does it need something different?

Go to my hotlist and download base+U1-U7 which has them all in one. Try installing with this and see how it goes.
Just in case have antivirus disabled in some cases it blocks some BMS setup files and causes such problems. -
Hey Arty,
I removed the old install and installed the updated version from your site. still the same issue. It says the program stopped working and windows is looking for a solution.I have an ATI Radeon HD4670, 512 MB.
4 GB Ram
Windows 7, 64 bit.
Core 2 Duo, 3.0, E8400I also installed Direct X 9c.
Any ideas on what the issue might be?
Thanks,

Post a crash.txt, from X:\Falcon4 BMS 4.32\User\Logs.
Your sys specs are a little on the low end, so
Disable all shaders in BMS config.Maybe even one of those may help:

Thanks!
I have another 4 GB of RAM on the way. I am also thinking about purchasing a GeForce GTX 750 or 960. Will a new video card help or should I save my money and purchase a new motherboard and process? I want to get something up quickly.
Thanks again,

My experience is that BMS is processor intensive. I rarely use more than 40% of my GPU cycles, but often 90%+ of CPU cycles when running BMS.
In other words a Sierra Hotel processor will do more for you than a Sierra Hotel Graphics card.
