If You Could Build A New Computer Just for Falcon BMS Right Now…
-
you don’t need to do anything special, as long as you have extraction fans at the rear/top and maybe some intake fans, that will be more then enough.
I have OC every CPU I have owned since the 80s and keeping air flowing through the case is the basis of good cooling.
And if your not OCing its a no brainer.
Also PSU adds to the air extraction. Keep it where it is meant to go.

Well, over here, they’re around the same price range… I did think about future upgrade issues but unless he wants to upgrade within the next 2 years, I reckon the CPU development will have a new chip and socket config after that rendering the “upgrade to Kaby” useless.
So even if the Kaby Lake upgrade doesn’t happen if the 170 and 270 chipset boards are the same price then I just flip the question and say why not Z270?
-
Do you think putting the power supply on the outside would do anything if all I was doing was running that setup on the stock clock speed?
No need. You can mount your PSU “upside down” so that it takes air from UNDER the case and blows it out the back… so it’s totally separate airflow from the rest of your case.

That’s what I’m asking… is there something on the Z270 that isn’t on the Z170?

A few things. One maybe good if someone gets into it and another that ALL users like.
The more user specific add on is support for Intel Optane. Some users might like that and get excited some might not care at all.
The one everyone will like is the support for 24 additional PCI-E lanes on the Z270 versus 20 additional PCI-E lanes on Z170. Those are beyond the 16 PCI-E lanes of the CPU itself. This is helpful for more bandwidth to attach m.2/u.2 drives or PCI-E devices. Always a good thing.
-
Well, Optane is only useful if you’re on HDDs; plug in an SSD and Optane doesn’t do anything for additional speed. As for PCI-E lanes, a GPU on 16x and the same GPU on 8x functions exactly the same… How many lanes does M.2 take up per slot? 4? So a single GPU setup plus maybe 2x M.2 drives won’t saturate 20 lanes, would it?

Dammit I just realized I accidentally bought a protection plan on the Samsung SSD. That’s $25 I’ll never get back…
-
What’s it for?
-
Probably waranty extension.

Oh, he definitely doesn’t need it now…. had he not bought it, the SSD would’ve died at 3 years and 1 month of use. Funny how electronic equipment knows how much warranty you took out on them

Yeah:
Coverage Amount: Up to the maximum coverage price of this Protection Plan, or the purchase price of your item, whichever is lower Coverage Starts*: 07/17/2017
Protection Plan Price: $24.99 Coverage Ends: 07/17/2020
That’s what I get for just clicking away without reading everything.

Still waiting on the monitor, should get that tomorrow. Should have it built and tested this weekend. The case and cpu cooler were way bigger than I thought!
Anyone have a recommended video or guide on how to go from just the Falcon 4.0 Allied Force disc all the way to BMS 4.33 nice and quickly? I’ve seen a couple out there. -
Forget that… more pics on the model behind the PC case!!
-
Oh that’s a BBI 1:18th scale F-16. More of a really nice toy than a model. I don’t have the patience to put together and paint a real one.
-
Nice rig ! but you need the original Falcon 4.0 … not the Allied Force version (available Steam,GOG,)

Man I’ve had bad luck with Steam before. This would work?: https://www.gog.com/game/falcon_collection

Yes.
-
Falcon Collection from GoG or Steam will work no problems.
Nice F-16 toy… I don’t have the time and patience for a real plastic model as well.
-
Nice F-16 toy… real plastic model as well.
Let me try to understand what were talking about here?
Can we get a fake plastic model ? I’ll check with the local hobby shop.
The door was opened.
-
No, I was referring to a real PLASTIC model as opposed to a real METAL model….
A “fake” one will only exist in your imagination -

Ya got nothing.
