Trackhat Clip left bias?
-
Hi all,
I received my Trackhat Clip with PS3 camera the other day and it’s an awesome piece of kit. I went with the right-side clip, as my mic boom is on the left side of my Turtle Beach X12 headset.
It’s held in place with the tie-wraps that came with it and it’s all nice, snug and sturdy. My “issue” I have now is that my left-head movements yield a bigger rotation in the 3D pit to the left then the right side. So if I turn my head to the left a bit, I end up look out to my 7-8 o’clock which is what I want.
However, a similar head movement to the right only changes the view to around 3 o’clock. In order to get to my 5 o’clock I have to tilt my head so far that I’m pretty much looking away from my 23" screen and then have to point my eye balls back to the left again… not very comfortable I can tell you.I’ve looked at the trackhat opentrack profile options but I’m not too sure how I can change this? And yes the PS3 camera sits in the middle of my screen and I’m sitting pretty much straight in front of it?
Any ideas anyone?

My view…
The track clip on the left side of your head is off center of the neck pivot point, which will have some asymmetric head tracking affects. I believe the software tries to compensate for this with its settings for clip configuration (top, left, right sides). I use a center hat clip and TrackIR which doesnt suffer this kind of asymmetry. -
Hey Tazz,
Just checking: in the TrackHat Opentrack initial screen there is an “Options” button. When you enter that, there is a tab called “Model”, that’s where you change from the left to the right model.
I have the TrackHat Clip with its PS3 camera too, but mine is a left one. I have “Clip left-handed” selected in that tab and it works beautifully…
