Having some "minor" control issues.
-
I’m obviously doing something wrong, and I’ve looked through the CH section here to try to figure it out, but I’ve either missed something in the threads or I’m missing something in the profile.
I’ve got the Fighterstick, Pro Throttle, and Pro Pedals. I installed BMS today for the first time this morning. After playing around in the controls menu, I discovered that BMS doesn’t seem to allow me to use more than one peripheral at a time in game, unless I’m doing something wrong. I’ve clicked advanced/save/load more times than I care to count but it just seems to continue to reset itself and only use whichever peripheral is select in the drop-down menu in the controls menu.
So I went into CHCM and used the control window to combine them, which left out the micro-stick and POV hat on the throttle, which simply will not do.
After that, I downloaded/implemented Smokey’s CH profile into CHCM and F4BMS respectively, hit download in CHCM and put it in Map Mode, and it seemed to work… Until it suddenly didn’t.
At first, his CH Map loaded like all the controls were combined, and BMS was only detecting the one input. Then I went to work for a couple hours and now that I’m home, it’s back to detecting four inputs, including the keyboard, and the keyfile won’t even load.I’ve tried deleted and redownloading the profile but it just doesn’t want to work.
I’m obviously doing something wrong, but I’m just not smart enough to figure it out. It’s also important to note that I’m extremely inexperienced in DirectX, how it works, or even exactly what it is. That’s mostly due to the fact that DCS never gave me any control issue so I never bothered to learn. I don’t need help setting the controls for the actual aircraft, I know what I’m doing there, I just need a little assistance becoming able to actually START setting controls.
I refuse to just “go back to DCS” (which is what the last person I asked for help told me) until ‘Shit’ Dynamics fixes what they broke, and I’ve been meaning to get into BMS for a while now.
Is anybody able to assist?
I’m almost scared to click ‘Submit’ because most people on forums like these seem to forget that they themselves were new to this once… Haven’t seen anyone like that in the threads here so I’m going to give it a shot. -
Welcome!
First off, no need to combine the devices. Each will be recognized separately in BMS, but they need to be in MAPPED MODE (it’s the button immediately to the left of the HELP icon). I recommend assigning commands by clicking the command in the UI and then pushing the corresponding button on your HOTAS (referred to as “DX Mapping”) rather than mapping commands to simulate button presses in CHCM. It’s possible to initiate some unintended commands with multiple button presses when using CHCM profiles rather than a DX map.
Check out the document “DX CH Fighterstick and Pro Throttle.pdf” in C:\Falcon BMS 4.33 U1\Docs\Key Files & Input\Device Setup Guides & Profiles\CH Fighterstick & Pro Throttle. It will help.
No need to “go back to DCS”… you can do this.
