Mark points question
-
Yes they are selectable that way, but there is no way to identify any of them at the HSD, the only way I found is to select the markpoint and make the autopilot in steerpoint mode point to it.-
Didnt understand the second part of your reply, about pressing 0 after making the markpointJust make a markpoint and press 0. It will become current steerpoint.
-
In RL you can. Markpoints and ownship markpoints, are selected via the HSBD, the same way threat steepoints are. In addition the active marpoint, ownship markpoint and threat steerpoint are displayed in reverse video.
okay. Tape doc I have reckons its only preplanned steerpoints you can select like that. fairly clear about it. different tape perhaps…

what tape?
-
Well, same one as last time you asked. M5.1 rev C.
This is taken from section I, 1.4.3.6 Target Management Switch, more specifically under the TMS up notes:
(HSD is the SOI) – Commands the MFDS to designate the symbol under the HSD cursor. If the symbol is preplanned (i.e., NAV route steerpoint, line steerpoint, preplanned threat), the current steerpoint is changed. The current steerpoint symbol is highlighted. If the symbol is data link (i.e., SEAD or CAS), it is designated (DL-TOI) and enclosed by a box.

It might be a case that manuals are not 100% correct. I would not be the first time.
-
that would be frustrating. It would also be hard to demonstrate to be the case, short of video that determines the tape shown and also demonstrates the behavior is incorrect.
-
The HAF 52+ jets have that capability, and it is only referred to as “steerpoint selection” and “threat ring display control”.
-
I will have to take your word for it. I confess I have little interest comparatively, in flying the HAF versions, versus flying the CCIP jets.
