Does anyone fly red?
-
Lots of guys fly “RED” side and I have occasionally on the Falcon Online (FO) server. We just finished a campaign (Battle for Balkans), not sure when the next one kicks off.
-
Occasionally I fly the red side, but need to add some type of fighter capable of equipping the AA-12, usually MiG-29M. It’s hard to go up against fighters that all carry the 120. I really love the 1989 theater, as the levels are much more equal, the 120 is not in service yet, so it’s AIM-7’s vs AA-10’s plus the lethal AA-11’s with HMD.
-
I feel like mig-31s doing mach 2.2 at 40k should be a thing, but it probably only happens if it’s humans. is the FM super unfair for most of the red forces? I watched a su-30 dance around a few AI f-4s until it literally made EVERYONE crash, including itself. lots of flares went out lol

For a more immersive and real experience the IR seekers values need adjustments.

Ghehe, some dogfights are indeed really weird. I don’t know about the FM’s for red forces, the MiG-29 seems to be pretty good, can kill an F-16 with it (AI, never been up against human F-16 in a MiG) but it’s easy to get stuck with a really low airspeed.

Can you explain what needs to be adjusted? Are they OP?
Thanks!

Comparing to RL the flare resistance of advanced IR missiles are way, way over modeled. Old test with 4.32 but all Falcon are the same in this topic…
In RL targets what used fterburner could defeat AIM-9s during ODS many times only with half or a dozen of flares. In Falcon from about ~20 tests above with no AB and 100+ flares your chance to success is close to 0. When I recoreded this video I gave up after 20 attempts to record a single missile defeat…
Modeling values what I used in my Korea '80s MOD. You can change values

in my OPINION THAT’S A GAME BREAKER
This is why I have not played unmodded F4 since 2009…

http://www.mediafire.com/file/nq6i1ja0ds9gqi4/Histoy_of_the_Electro-Optical_Guided_Missiles.pdfyou have to notch, over even completely go nose on to hide your exhaust, while flaring.
in the video you posted, your tail is always visible to the missile.

The video was posted to show a similar case to MiG-25 with AB vs flares where in RL only a dozen of flares worked (and other Iraqi jets also used successfully flare.) The point was show even without AB with 10 times more flares you do not have the slightest chance. Is no difference regardless you turn and change your aspect. Not mentioning I cheated because I used labels and external view to drop flares when AAMs were far. In Falcon flare has distance dependent modifier under a certain distance flare does not have any effect.
I recommend to study RP5 manual.
(I have done thousands of tests during my modding carreer…)
The IR seeker values of IR missiles in F4 univernse never represented neither the evolution or the RL flare sensitivy. None of F4 version got any upgrade in this area only in some 3rd party MODs/theaters.
